grayhawk Posted February 20 Report Posted February 20 Does this mean they're getting rid of the box entirely, or are they just not showing the circle filled in (strike) or empty (ball) anymore? I pray they just get rid of the whole box. Quote
TheLovejoy Posted February 20 Report Posted February 20 F'ing YEARS overdue... They should have fans 'trusting the system' the entire time. Quote
SeeingEyeDog Posted February 20 Report Posted February 20 Not going to lie...until I learned that the boxes are all different depending on who was broadcasting the game and the vertical is universal and all the other problems...despite wanting to devotedly support our pro brothers, I would yell at the screen too when I would see what they were selling us as "umpire misses". That's what that whole era was about, really...trying to show us that the players and coaches were right and the umpires were wrong. Why else would MLB tolerate the variance between what the media used on the broadcast and the actual pitch plots? Again, they love the controversy...the yelling, the childlike antics and drama. AAA and other leagues that are using this already, there is zero drama now. It's glorious. I do think there's going to be some growing pains with this in regards to the fans...should be interesting but, ultimately, after many decades we seem to be moving to a "get it right" doctrine and technology will be a great assist for that. ~Dawg Quote
