BigBlue4u Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Once again, it seems some of the posters are making, well, a mountain out of a molehill. After painstakingly looking through the posts, (unless I missed it) I never saw a mention of the word "judgment." When an umpire sees this type of play, he needs to ask himself one question: "Did the runner intentionally interfere with the throw." The answer will determine the call. 1 Quote

This is the root of the debate. I think everyone agrees running off course to the base is an intentional act of trying to get in the way of the throw. What some are saying, according to interpretations, veering off course to get in the way of a throw, while inattentional, is not illegal in and of itself. 1 Quote

The Man in Blue Posted June 21, 2025 Report Posted June 21, 2025 I didn’t have too much of an issue with arm swinging — in that clip it could have been momentum — but the attempted swat was pretty blatant. So, explain to me again why we should allow illegal acts as long as they fail? 2 Quote
