What color is the Nike Ti

I am looking to get one of my masks powder-coated by Tony at Mask It Sports, and I want the color to be identical or close to the color of my Nike Ti (metallic & shiny). I saw some of his work for his 'titanium' color, but it was a little different. Does anyone know what color Tony can do that is closest to the OG Nike Ti color?

The Nike Titanium is… titanium. Natural, untinted titanium. Unlike steel and other ferrous alloys (except stainless steel), titanium and aluminum don’t oxidize destructively. Instead, their oxidation creates an inert outer layer, or skin. It’s this oxidized skin that hinders paint. Paint has nothing to bind to. 

The most effective way to re-color titanium and aluminum is to anodize them. This involves acid baths and additives, thereby chemically altering (and re-tinting) the oxidation layer itself. Recent improvements in powdercoating has made re-coloring (coating) aluminum and titanium cheaper, faster, and (marginally) more effective; at least, much more effective than paint. Here, an electric charge is passed through the metal, at a certain voltage/Hz so that induces a charge in the oxidation layer. Then, the powdercoat particles are given the opposite charge… 

… stamp on a glass, sign a form, and you’re married! Oh, wrong process. Sorry. 

So! I tell you all this, so as to say, it’s going to be challenging to get titanium-colored powdercoating to be exact same as natural titanium… there’s a brilliance and depth to titanium, because of the oxidation layer that just can’t quite match powdercoat. My advice is to note and request of Tony to do a color match to titanium. Trust him, he’ll do good work.

I have a question and maybe some ideas...

Do you want your masks to match? Or do you specifically want them to be that color of the titanium?

Interesting... learned some new stuff. I saw a guy getting his mask done by him in a color called "Brushed Aluminum" and that color seemed pretty close to a titanium look. What do you think?

• I don’t know how to put a value to (my) time, and make it profitable. 
• I have little clue or skill in how to code an app. I’d make a terrible hacker (I am highly envious of @kylehutson ).
• I don’t know how to establish a schedule, much less keep to one. It’s a daily miracle I get to baseball games on time. 
• I have no idea how to pair this wine 🍷 or that beer 🍺 with a meal, or how to rate or grade cigars, or any of that “taste or scent” -based evaluation. 
• Genuinely, I don’t know how to play piano 🎹 … or guitar 🎸 … or even drums 🥁 for that matter. I played tuba. 😬 While I’m enthralled by music, I cannot generate it.

I'm thinking you may want to reach out to Tony (great guy!) and ask him.  Or, just tell him to make it the same color as the titanium mask.  I'm sure that you won't be disappointed.
