when will the above, title, hire by position just like nfl, then you can do this. pay by position and move back down to another position. pay by position. hp the highest pay per game, then 1bu, 2bu, 3bu. and if you are not doing well, you get moved down a slot.

not if you missed too many at 3b, you would get bumped totally out. and if hp was $400k 1b 100k, 2b 85k, and 3b 70k. everyone is always swearing they all are perfect where they work or they get fired, well here is a way umps would get demoted or fired just like the 3 nfl mentioned and 9 others not mentioned, out of 12 referees in the article did, or at least demoted.

How about a relegation system like English soccer? Worst five Umpire Scorecards at the end of the season -- back to AAA. Top five in AAA, welcome to the big leagues (I am not serious)

Maybe....the sample size would be so much less at 3B than any other spot on the field. 

The replay overturn rate on close calls at 1B is about 64%

is that 64% overturn call rate, on the calls that do go to IR. or does that include the hand up hold sign to take a look, and then they do not give the headset review sign. are the holds but no IR added into your stats. if not, why not, because that means the umps got it right, or stands which counts the same (as not a overturn) and would 'up' the confirmed percentage and lower that overturn percentage rate.

Interesting. Do you have a cite?

For reference, overall, according to 2024 MLB Ump Media Guide, overturn rate is 47% last 10 years (range from 41% to 50%).

I think that's different data from what I'm discussing. 

I believe my post stated that the overturn rate was about 64% over time with regard to "Close plays at first base" 

FWIW last year's overturn rate on close plays at 1B that went to review was 70%.

It appears as though the data you're providing is ALL replays and a 47% overturn rate over time.

Correct. The close plays at first base would be a subset of the overall data I showed. Apologies for making it confusing.

What I find interesting is that 1B being 60%-70% whilst the overall being 50% means other situations are lower, and possibly much lower, so I was curious to dig into the data. Where did you find the 1B 64%/70%?
