I work almost exclusively 2-umpire games, with a handful of solo games thrown in. In a month, I've got my first 3-umpire games, so I want to prepare as much as I can, without being able to go to a clinic or anything.

Any suggestions for online resources to learn this? I learn best with videos showing practical application. I'm also reading through the NFHS Umpires Manual which has a full section on 3 umpire mechanics, but again, the video/practical application would be more helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I prepped for my post-season HS 3-man mechanics by watching some college post-season tournament games.

Small schools, NAIA/D3, usually have them televised and the bonus there is often they only have a single static camera. Couple years back I watched Taylor University, NAIA school, televise their conf. tournament.

3-man and a static camera from the announcers booth. It was perfect. I sat one Saturday and watched 4 nine inning games for about 11 hours. Nice thing now is I think those games are still archived on Taylor Univ’s public YouTube page. The Crossroads (NAIA) tournament starts Friday, May 6. They live-stream games…..and for my sake I hope with this same camera angle

volunteer now to take the plate for that gem -- PU's mechanics are nearly the same in 2-person or 3-person.

I’ll try to track down the links to the live games, I have them saved somewhere. The other training videos are ok, but I much preferred watching the live movements and situations.

And don’t worry, you won’t have to sit for 11 hrs watching, they’re easily fast forward-able through dead time and between plays

Just want to thank you all - this is all really helpful stuff. I'll definitely watch those archived livestreams and check out the other resources you all have provided.
