Had the following situation in a HS baseball game :
R2, 1 out. F1 is in the set. R2 breaks to 3b, F1 steps to 3b and throws the ball into dead ball area. R2 scores on the overthrow.
The question...should we enforce TOP one base award and return the runner to 3b?

Finally looked at the book. On Table 8-3 "Throw from pitcher’s plate goes out of play is a one base award from the time of throw."
I’m glad I screwed it up. I let the run score. It would drive the coach crazy that the defense screwed up and the offense loses a run.
The team that scored was losing 16 - 4. I let the run score because I didn't recognize the dead ball issue immediately.
 
Final score 16-5.
