I'm not sure what rules this game was played under, but in OBR I'd have this:

R1 is safe on the initial play, but out for the INT. He clearly hindered F4's ability to play on the BR. I can see a case for getting 2: going in standing is sufficient evidence of intent to break up a DP.

The video is a good training tape for umpires regarding why we speak to only 1 coach. Get the others off the field before any explanation takes place.

I don't think you can get two outs on this in OBR.  Since he beat the play at second, I'm giving ALL the benefit of the doubt that his initial intent was to reach the base -- THEN his intent became "help the BR be safe."  If he had a rollblock through the base, or went out of the baseline but was safe only because F4/6 was pulled off the base -- then, yse, get two outs.,

From some version of NAPBL or PBUC or something:

4.         Runners on first and second, no outs. On hit and run play, batter hits ground ball to deep short. Runner from first makes clean slide at second and is ruled safe. However, the runner then grabs the second baseman's arm as he is throwing to first base.

Ruling: Runner from first is out for interference. However, batter is awarded first base and runner returns to second. The runner intentionally interfered with the second baseman' s throw , but he did not willfully and deliberately interfere with the obvious intent to deprive the defense of the opportunity to make a double play.  The runner' s intent in this case was to reach second safely, and subsequently he interfered with the second baseman's throw to first. Consequently, he is the only player called out on the play.

And you figured out why I asked. Has this changed over the years?

Can we get some confirmation on this OP, like the way you mentioned above scenario with runner on 1st and 2nd to start the play.

It seems like there was play like in the OP where the runner going to second was safe because the throw from the shortstop took the shortstop off the bag way too soon, or he straddled the bag but at the same time the safe runner created an infraction. So you had a safe runner creating an interference, not a runner who was out causing interference on the back end of the double play. Normally the lead runner is already out and then creates an interference on another runner, not a runner who has reached a base safely and then interferes in some way.

So, is there a way only 1 out happens on this play. Either call the runner on 2nd out and let the batter runner stay or call the batter runner out and make the guy on 2nd go back to first since you cannot move up on an interference.

Seems like it happened to the Cowboy and he only got 1 out, not 2 outs.

and what is up with all the violence against umpires?
