First time buying equipment

I currently do umpiring as a fun way to get cash on summer break from college and I usually do cal Ripken 'Major' (75' bases) and Babe Ruth (full-fledge bases). The league provides equipment, but the shin guards and chest pads are pretty SH*#ty. I'm 6'1" and pretty skinny, if that helps at all.

If I were you I would get a Champro complete set or something like and save up for a while and get the good stuff that will last you

I'd roll with the Champion chest protector. Great value for a hard shell.

For a mask, Honigs sells one with TW pads already in it, which is a good deal. I prefer leather pads, and ump-attire has some Dyna-Lite frames with leather pads.

Google it is the best option. There are several places that sell the gear. eBay is always an option as well.

Also you can look through the Buy, Sell, Trade forum here. There is all sorts of stuff out there. Keep it simple for now. CP, Mask, Shin Guards. The other stuff you can accumulate.

I did some more searching after seeing this and eventually found http://www.sportaboutequipment.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_83_252&products_id=160 This one looks to be bigger and is $15 less

Check the "buy / sell" forum for some good used stuff.  Someone in the "retirement sale? thread has some stuff.
