I don't know about that, but last year I bought some Elmers multi-purpose spray adhesive to put a patch on a uniform which I was going to only wear the patch the one time and it worked like a charm. It has directions for both temporary and permanent applications. The patch held well for the one game, and peeled off easily and it washed away well. I must say it took 2 washings to get all of the residue off, but it did come off.

I bought that stuff several years ago and tried it....I tried gluing my numbers onto my mesh shirts..Tried gluing BR patches on my shirts before tournaments..

Didn't work...Shortly after they were exposed to the game, the numbers and patches just fell off..I guess the combination of sweat and the material maybe??

Same thing when I tried it on a jacket...They fell off even quicker...

Brian,

I've never tried the "tack-it" product.

I use carpet tape for "temporary" patches. Seems to "hold" just fine and leaves hardly any adhesive residue.

Ive used the tack-it before. Worked for me one year, lost the original bottle, bought a new one and didnt work as well. IF you do use it make sure you put it on the patch the night before. I have a long sleeve navy shirt that was ruined cause I put the tack it on the patch right before my game.

I decided to sew two HS patches onto two navy shirts (one plate one base) and just use those since the jacket isnt used come playoff time.

I have used it for years. We don't put our state patch on our HS shirts. MD has the ugliest patch in the history of patches. If we do a State game we tack them on and pull them after the game.

Apply it a day or two before you need it, take it off after the game. DO NOT leave it on overnight or you will have residue. My wife uses it to temp place patches on variuos types of uniforms. She has a side business sewing on patches for scouts, karate and sports uniforms. She will use it to place them instead of pinning.

Personally the glue is a waste as it leaves residue, so if you want to move a patch to your right arm/ or left arm shoulder from your front pocket, then sticky residue is left behind.

Someone said the two sided adhesive tape works well. I'm going to give that a shot. And the same applies to the velcro as it leaves a residue on the shirt. I've ruined a jacket and several shirts because that residue is impossible to remove. There's got to be another way.

Although one guy says he sews onto the back of his umpire patch, a tiny bit of cloth that he buys from "Michael's," & leaves enough cloth loose, so he can attach tiny snaps through the cloth, and then he can snap it on to the shirt. I haven't tried it, but it looked fine when I saw him wearing the patch. I'm still going to try the double-adhesive tape first.

It does leave residue if you leave it on the shirt. It tells you to take it off between uses. I use it when we go to states and need a patch. Md has the ugliest ptch imaginable so we don't wear it during the season.

i used staples pointed out away from my arm. absolutely no residue and no damage to shirt.

I did that once too...

I had a PONY tournament which requires the patch. I had it in my bag but not on my shirt and also had a stapler in my trunk. Necessity is the mother of invention...
