Plate Ump call?

I recently had situation that I'm not sure I performed correctly.  R1 & R3, 1 out.  I'm the PU.  R1 breaks for second, hoping to entice a balk.   F1 disengages and throws to F3.  R3 is edging down the line and I'm watching him.    R3 heads back to third as F3 is throwing there.  My base guy doesn't call anything and I'm still @ the plate.  Then F5 threw to F6 for a play on R1.  No call there either.   I kinda got a look like it was my call @ third.  My question, is the play @ third my call?  If it was my call, then I kicked the snot out of the rotation.  We didn't pre-game this scenario at all.  We discussed it afterward.

With R1 and R3, you can rotate on a hit to the outfield and take the play at third on R1.  In the situation you described, the BU has all plays at first, second and third.  If a rundown ensues, you need to stay with R3.  The calls you described were most certainly not yours - you have a horrific angle on that play to retire R3 at third.

The call with the worst angle when working solo is the back pick at third.  It's only slightly better when the throw is coming from F3.  No friggin way should PU have that call in a two man game, IMO.  If the defense is making a circus out of this play, the BU needs to stay on his toes and work for the best angle on each play.  The working area is his friend.

Not no. Not JUST no. But HELL no. And I'd likely give my BU the GFY signal if he looked at me like that.

You read it correctly @Jocko.    I was looking down that way, but I KNEW it wasn't my call.  I gave him a good stare.  He didn't ask for any help ( thank goodness) because I had diddly squat for him.  Thanks guys,  I agree with everyone that has replied.

Not always on R1/R3. Generally, yes, but the rotation cannot be completed until PU's primary responsibilities with R3 are over.

Maybe maybe not

In all likely hood R3 will most likely score easily. Take a cursory glance make sure he is somewhere close to touching the plate.

R1 at 3rd is going to be a much closer and likely play.

Just read the entire play and go!
