Any body else have problems with the zippers breaking? Have 2 pair that I got at the beginning of the season and in both pairs the zippers have broke in the last week.

I've got 4-5 pairs of Smitty charcoals (plate & base, not combos), but they are not new (3-4 years old) and zero zipper problems.  Must be an issue with the newer ones (in addition to sizing issues which have been posted here lately).

I have Smitty combos, also relatively new, that I bought last fall and have had no zipper problems (knock on wood.) If you got them from UA they'll probably replace them.

I have a couple pair of Smittys where the zipper doesn't stay connected at the bottom if I unzip it far enough but I am able to reconnect it and zip it normally.

I am contemplating buying a new pair of base and plate pants and was considering Smitty brand as a couple of my recent partners had them and they looked pretty good to me. Way better than the first try by Smitty which looked like prison inmate pants to me the fabric was of such poor quality.

This topic thread has convinced me to just spend the twenty to thirty extra bucks total and buy Honigs (Hardwick) poly-wools. Nothing more annoying than having zippers fail and having to pay a seamstress or tailor to replace them.

My .02 cents.........

I have smitty plate base and combo pants for three years and luckily so far I have had no problems whatsoever. Actually im impressed with them so far. Just ordered another pair in gray and navy. Also, there shirts are awesome, best shirts for the money

As Grayhawk suggested, I had zipped them down too far. I was able to get the zipper back back up and am now good to go. Will just have to remember to not zip them down to far
