On the plus side, the Cubs' Kasper and Deshaies sat back and listened to the field mic picking up the conversation between PU Reynolds and Girardi before agreeing that Girardi did the right thing for that game situation because the next batter Soriano was "prone to the strikeout." Then they started debating whether declining CI would be a good idea with none out or whether you'd want the baserunner.

But we are not helping the young guys who may have to call with OBR rules. Doesn't the umpire let the full play happen. Then at the end, doesn't the umpire place the runner from 3rd back on 3rd and place the BR on 1st base. Then it is up to the offensive Head Coach/Manager to come and start asking questions about the runner scoring. If the umpire is forceful and authoritarian with his voice as he calls the interference and places the runners and nobody says anything about his placement of runners aren't you suppose to just keep going with the runners on 1st and 3rd and however many outs there were before the CI play started.

 

Let's get down to the real nitty gritty for the new guys out there, not just the fact that the CI was a good call. Let the veterans on here go through the full procedure and mechanics for the new guys.

Nice to know the big boys are human too: you can see just after the CI happens the PU start to signal time.

I had an association meeting during the week, and one of the guys was doing a plate on the weekend: 2 pitches untouched by F2, and 4 CIs. Apparently had all 3 versions.

Is it me, ...am I missing something .......or .... did Reynolds kind of "freeze" here and not call anything?  He started saying something with a partial 'time' mechanic ....then let it play out.  I thought this was a "catchers interference!" pointing at F2 ... yes?

At all levels we do, offer the manager the choice.
