Think not? . . . I understand the marketing shirt business. I was in it. But just for argument, ok then, how many 100's of THOUSANDS do you think? . . .

To be fair, you said how much did it "cost". Revenue offsets cost.

Just ball parking.. 25 player roaster, 30 teams = 750 players x $200/per = $150,000 right off the top. Add bling and swag and all the rest? That's a lot!

"Revenue" are still monies that have to come from somewhere . . . mainly the fans. This MAY be a basic formula: The shirts are SPECIAL ORDER x X players x X Sizes x X # of shirts ( e.g. 2 each PER PLAYER) x EACH TEAM logos, FRONT & BACK . . . and I’ve have forgot a few others I’m sure. Think about what it costs "us" for a Majestic Ump shirt and having the #'s sewn on. $55.00 @? . . . no patches or logos etc.

PS . . . embroidery is EXPENSIVE.

Because they don't have names on the back and JRD is every year, do you think they reuse the jerseys? I would imagine that a player would want to keep it now and then but some of the veterans probable don't care and don't want the jersey.

How much money do you think they make selling these jerseys in the mezzanine to people who pay $150 a pop for them?  I promise you that it offsets their cost to outfit the team.

They have little temp-patches they put over their own numbers...not THAT expensive for the umpire's shirts, at least. I think if a player wasn't traded, he could just use the 42 jersey from last year...

Oddly enough .....I noticed that James Hoye (Brian O'Nora's crew [bO subbing for John Hirschbeck]) did not have 42 ...James had his number, and so did Davidson ...if I remember correctly

Do a little reading on what Jackie and his wife went through.

Watch the movie.

Lots of people complaining about the cost of honoring this man.

STOP Please.

I believe you're reading into things ........

it was a simple question as to wondering how much it costs MLB to do that ....he wasn't complaining or saying this out of disrespect ....
