MLB Plate Umpire

I'm sitting here watching the SD Padres and the LA Dodgers playing and from what I can see the Plate Umpire does not have a indicator in either one of his hands, what's up with that?

Its not unusual for many of us to do a game without an indicator, especially those who do games with more than one partner. He works 4 man in MLB, and has a very reliable scoreboard in case he forgets.....

sometimes if I'm in a blowout i put my indicator away in my pocket and call w/o one.....my way of making sure i stay focused

I don't use one in kid ball games or subvarsity high school games. It's really not that hard to keep the count without one after you've done it once or twice.

What's up is that this is something that all or many finally observe once they become umpires.  You'll see lots of stuff you didn't "see" before.

There's a lot of MLBers that don't use indicators on a regular basis. Or this guy could have been like a guy I know who keeps it in his pocket and only adjusts it for outs.
