No real options on replacing the padding for the Champion unless it was the Velcro version.  With the full riveted version you are stuck with the stock padding.

Darn, oh well. The padding isn't terrible on it, it's not uncomfortable for me, was looking for something more comfortable. I do want to do the harness, though. Any other better harnesses out there? Or is the SystemSeven one the best one? Sorry for all the questions, I'm fairly new at this. I've only done it for one year and counting.

System 7 harness all the way

Do you think it's good for a bigger guy? I'm about 6'0'' and about 230-250. Think it'll be fine?

I have heard from the more generous proportioned umpires that they have a hard time getting their head through the opening of the S7.  I have also heard that the waist straps are a little too short for the umpires that are a little more round in that area.  Speaking for myself, 5' 8" and 175 lbs, the S7 works great for me.  The opening is large enough to get my grape through and the waist straps are plenty long. This is one of those things that if it doesn't work out for you, you can sell it or trade it on these forums and you can cut most of your out of pocket expense.

If you're going to drop $130 on TW padding, plus another $25+ for the harness, why don't you just buy the All-Star System 7 CP? You can buy new padding for it every couple of years for around $30.

That's what I wear and love it. One of the guys on my crew last weekend has the Unequal and said he wished he'd have gotten the All-Star.

From what I understand, they don't make TW for it (it has to be retrofitted). I'm also not up to spending that much for the padding. Way too much to spend IMO. It's my second year right now and I'm focusing on the games mainly, just asking some questions for the future. Will definitely have that option when it comes to upgrade the CP. Right now I can only do up to Freshman (since I'm not graduated from high school, yet) ball, next year I can do up to Varsity, so I can see where I could possibly upgrade.

I just purchased a new Douglas and sprung for the Delta Flex. I have been missing out not having this on my cp before now. I worked a weekend tourney a few weeks ago and had 7 plates during that tourney, and I never had to touch my Douglas once! I didn't realize how often I pulled or pushed my old Wilson back into place until I didn't have to with this delta flex on my new cp. Absolutely the best $30 you could spend. Here is a pic of it on mine.

Only thing I'm concerned about, or I would absolutely spring for it, is will it fit me. I'm a bigger guy, and the poster above said it may not fit. Not too sure.

Why are you so enamored with the TW padding?  The Champion is already pretty low profile IMO which seems to be the major advantage of a TW retrofit.  If the current padding is worn out, the P2xx price point makes it essentially disposable (in other words just replace the CP with another one).

To add TW padding and a Delta Flex to a Champion, you are in (actually above) the System 7 CP range like Jason says.  And the System 7 (or a West Vest Gold / Douglas) is a better CP than the Champion IMO.  And that is not a slam on the Champion - I have owned one and think it is the best CP value out there.

And as others have said, the Delta-Flex will fit the Champion (and just about any other CP).  Some have had to modify the straps, but that is the exception.  That is one upgrade I would make to any CP I own.

Will what fit you?!

If the DF fits Jocko, with a wrap around t-hook CP like the Gold and it fits, .... it'll fit.

The bottom straps are elastic and can do just about anything!

It fits, it works and you can thank us later :)
