Omega, you are correct in your thinking, though at the MLB level, even the slightest hint of movement towards 2nd will be deemed an attempt.  Link please.

Very slight. But that might be all it takes in "Mr. Snapback's" mind as an attempt. I agree with Michael. At our levels, we need much more then that to make this call.

Not something that I would call in college ball or below and probably wouldn't have called it there either but I can see how some might judge that as an "attempt" to 2nd. If they had a very broad interpretation of the rule that is. I might call it if I had some kind of upside down kid ball game and just needed an out so we could get through the game but that's highly unlikely.

Angel Hernandez is just an idiot no way would I make that call at any level!

Angel is actually a very good umpire that gets a hard rap from many. The problem is he makes the hard call but isn't strong in a confrontation. Would I make that call, no, but I'm not at that level and that is not an isolated call.
