As some of you have read from my other posts, I'll be attending the Tyler, Texas Umpiring Clinic.  Unfortunately, Wally Bell was supposed to be one of the headliners. 

 

Is anyone else on this forum going to attend?    If so, shoot me a message on here.    Would love to meet people from here.

 

Has anyone already been to this clinic?    If so, shoot me a message on here.    Would love to hear about your experience.

Franzeo if you go can I hitch a ride? Or I can drive. Either way it's just better than driving to Tyler alone.

 

Aren't you going to TUS Platejob? If so, hard to be two places at once. LOL.

I was the only guy from the FW chapter there last year.

 

IT is worth going guys. So much bang for your buck. I may try and come again even from Denver.

 

All 3 guys (Marvin, Lance, and Andrew) were there last year.

I think the Friday sessions will be at the Holiday Inn a few miles north of the fields, I am a Marriott person so that's where I'll be. It's about half way between the fields and the Holiday Inn.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the map and see where the fields are and the hotels. What is the name of the field complex?

I'm at the Country Inn & Suites.......hot breakfast and cheap rooms.  It's just north of the Courtyard Tyler and just south of the Holiday Inn.....about 2 miles north of Faulkner Park.

 

As for meeting somewhere before or after the meeting Friday, i'm all for that.  Once we figure out where everyone's staying, we can pick a place in the middle or something.

There are tons of restuarants along the street where the Holiday Inn is. It is pretty much the main drag of Tyler. Hope you guys enjoy the trip.

 

Still debating whether to try and go again.

Would you be willing to share some of your thoughts on the clinic? Such as what goes on, what you do, etc?

I just purchased the three day ticket and the TASO Regional Clinic. The $85.00 rate sale for the clinic expires in less than 5 hours. After that, the price goes up. I did order the lunch for Saturday and Sunday, which was $7.00/day, $14.00 total. I'll be making my hotel reservations Mid-November. I am very happy to be going and look forward to meeting y'all there. Let's have some fun, knock the instructors socks off, and really show how Texan's get 'r' done!

They haven't named the replacement yet, but i'm checking like every other day. 

 

Marvin Hudson, Lance Barrett, and Andrew Chestnut so far.

Graduated from the first class at The Umpire School in 2012. Worked the GCL and was promoted to the Appy league.
