I am looking to order a System7 helmet through homerunmonkey.com. For anyone who has had experience with either All-Star or HRM:

1) How is their customer service? Is HRM a reliable retailer?

2) Do you know what the warranty is like on these helmets? How accommodating is All-Star if you have issues?

Thank you in advance for your insight.

I can only answer number 2 .........

You will have zero issues with All-Star helping you out IF AND ONLY IF you have issues w/ your HSM which I doubt you will

HRM is great if I ever have an issue they always help.

Same with All-star. They always help me out. Great company.

Well, I was told by HRM that the mask comes with a 30 day warranty (really?). But given all the rave reviews of All-Star's customer support and loyalty, I'll take my chances. Not that I expect anything to go wrong in the first place.

Hey Guys! Hope everyone has been doing well! Been a while since I chimed in here!

HRM is a great store.  Typically, they only list an item if they have it in their own company stock... so when you order, you should feel totally confident that it will ship that same day or the next business day at the latest.

The MVP2500 is awesome.  If you ever have any questions or issues feel free to call us up (1 800 777 3810).

@BigUmpire If you're looking for a specific helmet comparison, please call into our office up (800 777 3810).  If you have any specific questions on our helmets, I would be more than happy to answer here.

Thanks!

As an owner of both an MVP4000 and an MVP2500 (in use by my son), I can wholeheartedly endorse this helmet. It's well-balanced, has excellent vision, actually cooler with even just a slight breeze than mask and hat, and fits like a glove.

The only tiny little nit that I would pick, which is a small issue, is that with the MVP4000, since it has the extra vinyl nitrile protective forehead band, I find the gap between chinpad and face/jaw a little more noticeable than when I used the MVP2500. It also seems to be just a little smaller than I'd like, leaving the mask frame seemingly right up against the upper jaw bone. I think it's more a comfort issue really than a safety one, I just would like a more substantive chin pad.

@All-Star Sports: are there any options for a slightly thicker chin pad or a more wraparound style?

I e-mailed All-Star about cleaning my pads in the 2500.  No response.  I did figure out how to clean them.  Now, I absolutely love the 2500.  I like the fact that the pads can be replaced and washed.  The only nitpick I have is the small thin pad along the jaw line is fraying.  It's happening on both sides.  I figure it's just the way I put it on.  I would like a way to repair it, if it is repairable.  Like Scrounge said, it's not nearly as hot as one might think.  It is very well-balanced and does have excellent vision.  I took one direct shot to the mask this year and the mask did it's job.  If you are gonna buy a bucket, you can't go wrong with the 2500.  My :2cents:.

@BigUmpire Feel free to call my response what you want... but I'm not here to bad mouth any of our competitors, and I wouldn't want them here doing the same.  I originally came on here a few years ago to help answer any All-Star specific questions.  Plus, there are lots of others out there who have used both and have posted their experiences and comparisons.  If you wish to call in and ask me specifics, please do.

@jbucks Those guys all get custom MVP4000's where a removable logo is applied.  On a standard MVP2500 and MVP4000, the logo's are permanent.  Please never ever use a product like Goo-gone on any kind of helmet!  Those chemicals can do some harmful stuff to the shells of helmets.  If you ever wash the helmet, soap and water goes a long way!

Thanks,

I wouldn't expect a manufacturer to get into a detailed comparison on a competitor product - for a whole host of reasons (legal and otherwise) - on an internet forum. From this and other posts in the past, they're the most open manufacturer I've ever seen as far as responsiveness.

As to the Wilson, while I'm not an owner myself, I didn't like the way it sat as much when I tried it. And I've heard (admittedly anecdotes though I knew one owner personally) that the pistons can break and Wilson isn't very helpful or responsive. I think it's kind of a useless gimmick - if I can depress the pistons easily with just hand pressure, a ball at game speeds will just bottom it out and provide little useful protection. Just another thing that can - and does - break.

I sponsor some young umpires.

I bought 5 Wilson Shocks last season and want to try the All stars now for fall ball.
