I'm not following. They got it right, and for the right reason. F3 did not have secure possession of the ball before the runner acquired the base. The ball moved in the glove as he lifted it off the ground.

Actually, with the development of numerous slo-mo instant replays getting together is new school. In more cases than not, they get it wrong.

A more accurate description would be that the ball was never completely in the glove before the runner got to the base.  In fact, this looks similar a WR trapping a football.  Good call.

No rule requires that the ball be completely in the glove, or indeed in the glove at all. The fielder must have secure possession of the ball in hand or glove: a "sno-cone" can count if the umpire judges secure possession.

Did the runner beat the play?  No he did not.  At best it was a "tie."
