I have a JV Game last night. I have the bases.

Partner is just horrible. Never moved from behind the plate. Called some ridiculous strikes. Never rotated, never signaled. Just plain bad. :shakehead:

Coaches never even say a peep to him.

Around the 5th inning R1 I get a steal attempt. Not even close. I bang him out. The OC starts yelling at screaming that I missed it. Bla Bla Bla. I'm like "Really???"

After all my partner has done I get yelled at? When it wasn't even close?

Fast Formard to ending the game- We have a 2 Hour time limit on JV games on Weekedays. Plus there was a Varsity game following ours. Home team is at bat winning in the Bottom of the 6th. My Timer goes off. I call time. And announce that time has expired game over. The coach yells at me again saying that the inning started and they get to bat. I say no coach the Home team is winning and they are still at bat so game is over. He just says "whatever"

Sounds to me that the the headcoach knew your partner and wasn't going to say anything to him.   He wasn't happy with him.....but he wasn't going to say anything....so YOU got the complaints!

Why are you ending the game?

That is PU responsibility unless you worked it out in advance.

Even then signal him and let him announce the game is over due to time limit.

While I agree with Lou in general here ..........based on Rolando's experience in his OP w/ this partner,....sometimes you have to take charge ;)

I agree

We mentioned it at the plate meeting that I had the timer.

I signaled my partner he didn't do anything but stand there. When the batter stepped in to bat I took charge. Again! and called it.

With that kind of partner, I can imagine Rolo wanted to be watching the Puerto Rico game instead.

Agreed and I did get home in time to watch the last 3 innings. Italy felt apart. :shakehead:

Oh man! Am I hijacking my own thread??? :smachhead:

Jeff put a stop to it!

You know, I was thinking that this would be the best place to discuss this: anyone who does more than [insert preferred number] games a day is really cheating the game and is a dastardly rapscallion. Thoughts?

I told you that you just can not setup a chair behind home plate and bring your candy bars and drinks.

I have had my share of BAD partners in the past.  It seems like whenever I have a bad partner and the coach knows it, they always come to me with ridiculous tantrums/questions, when they are mad at something my partner did.  I try not to throw my partners under the bus but sometimes it is hard to bite my tongue.

I want to tell the coach, "I know my partner is terrible, if you have a complaint go talk to them!  I am having a hard enough time myself dealing with there terrible job of umpiring, I don't need to hear it from you too!!!"

But I have always taken the higher road and tried to calm down the coach.  Maybe it is time to tell them I don't want to hear it...
