I don't often work levels below HS JV but I did a favor for an assigner and took a 14 yo game.  No problem as I think 14 yo's deserve decent umpires and I don't feel the pressure in a game like this.  Anyway I have a play at the plate and the runner slides into the catcher who is waiting with the ball.  Easy call. I made the out call and the runner gets up and says " You're blind"  I responded with "You're done".   

After the game the ejected runner came to me and apologized.  I told him it was no big deal but there are certain things you just can't say.  I like to believe the young man learned something from this.    After all, isn't this level of ball more of a learning experience for these kids than the stiff competition we see at the higher levels?

 

A side note;  after the ejection, I made the statement to the runner that he was clearly out by at least two feet, then the idiot parent behind the fence said " You can't see two feet".  Of course I ignored this moronic statement.  All in all a fun day for me.

All Ejs are a HTBT situation.

I also have less than ejs in the last four years than some that disagree have in a season.

Some that have said they would not EJ I take with a grain of salt, since I have seen their posts on EJs and arguments over calls.

In fact I don't ever remember EJ a manager or coach for arguing a call.

 

I don't always have time to post or ensure every lil fact gets into it.

 

So to add to the Original OP

He was standing approximately 10 feet from me.

His arms were out stretched, like he just finished making a safe call.

The volume was well above a normal speaking tone and was derogatory and I had no doubt it was directed towards me.

You can agree or disagree.

You really do not know what you would do, unless your in that position at that time.

Otherwise you are a arm chair umpire as was stated.

 

 

But that just isn't acceptable coming from a 12 year old playing Elite Travel Ball.

 

If that was my Sunday Adult league, I would have just walked away.

 

In the mean time the year is rolling along.

Baseball season in the area officially starts tomorrow and I don't expect to much time off till about July-August.

Already have some calling me to work games like in two days and my response is "If you really want to schedule me, lets look at two weeks from now, not two days".

  Wasn't there and the OP lacked A LOT of info which would have helped many original thoughts about this thread.  Reminds me of another who couldn't understand why their chops were busted due to lack of info to help put things in perspective.  I was fine with the decision AFTER reading additional info up to the highlighted point.

 

If I deem it enough to EJ a 12 year old, I am EJ an adult.  I will NOT allow some punk adult do something I won't allow a 12 year old to do.  My standards are higher for adults than children.  My tolerance for adults is lower as well.
