Major League Baseball Umpires just launched an Online Sports Auction to benefit their youth-based programs. They have some items especially for umpires including:

  • Wilson Titanium Mask (starting bid $100 - donated by us)
  • Southern or International Camp Scholarship
  • MLB Umpires All-Star Game Autographs on Home Plate
  • MLB Umpires World Series Autographs on Home Plate
  • Diamond iX3 Package (starting bid $100 - A new package we have at $249.95 retail)

Plus MLB ticket packages, on-field batting practice experiences and memorabilia from the likes of Nolan Ryan, Alex Rodriguez and Johnny Bench.

You really should check this out and consider getting something special or that you need at a great price for a great cause. Auction ends Jan. 20th (for most items).

There's some good stuff in the auction again this year. I believe Majordave was the winning bidder on some things last year, beat me out on one item...:meditation:

Under the saying "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" I went ahead and bought the "International or Southern Umpires Camp Scholarship." This year I won't be out bid by Dave or anybody.

B) I'm going to the International Umpires Camp :HD:

BTW does anybody have a place I can stay while I'm still asking for forgiveness from the wife once she gets my credit card statement? :D

Dude, you got me but I know better than to do that two years in a row.

My wife was okay with it. It is deductible on taxes in two ways. Charitable contribution and/or umpire training expense versus your umpire income. That is how I went to International Umpires Camp this past October.

Congrats to Warren for the Int't and Southern Umpires Clinic Winning Bid. Our items we donated met their maximum price as well. So far over $7,000 has been raised.

Since I posted the original link, there have been some new items added. Here are a few some of you may be interested in (and some depending on where you are located):

  • Lunch with a MLB Umpire before game w/ 2 MLB tickets in city of choice - starting bid $150
  • Take a Ride on the Good Year Blimp - $250 initial bid (out of Carson City, CA)
  • VIP Batting Practice experiences with 4 tickets in Houston, Detroit, Florida and Minnesota
  • Wayne Gretzky Autographed Jerseys
  • Dick Butkus Autographed Football

There are also some things that are still low that no one or only 1 has bidded on:

  • All Star Tickets in St. Louis - $600
  • A Rod Autographed Ball - $250
  • Johnny Bench HOF Autographed Bat - $200

And some other things I've not mentioned. Full auction is here:

Yeah, that would have been a neat experience, wouldn't it? Well, no worries considering someone got that one at the buy now price of $600. So you save $250 and $600 goes to charity.

Thanks but really nothing. Just copied and pasted email addresses of our supplier contacts into a form. Those guys are always trying to get us to spend more money with them so wanted to see if I could get them to do likewise.

Thanks to all you guys who spread the word... and thanks to Warren for having this website so something like this and can be quickly shared. I believe the auction has raised something like $15,000 so far.

This was my indulgence:
