While scanning the channels last night, I always cruise by and scan the MLB channel.....usually its just dark.....I've been waiting on the debut since they hinted it was in the works for years...it is scheduled to start up at 6 PM EST on January 1, 2009.....last night it was showing a preview of what the channel will be like....

I am looking forward to it...The ex-players (analysts) are Harold Reynolds (ex-espn) Al Leiter and Joe Magrane.........as long as they dont talk rules, :TD: .....they should do fine.....

Seems like a pretty good line-up of games, highlights, history features and all night long "baseball tonight" type show...said to be on the air until the last out of every game.....

During the preview they had a small segment on players mic'ed up during the games......not sure but I think it was manager Clint Hurdle coming off a mound conference.....after being broken up by the HP umpire....the nmike caught him saying to the HP umpire.........."you got to get a better look at those.. some of those looked like pretty good pitches".....they cut it off before I heard any umpire response........

Wonder if there is any hope we will see any umpire features.......

As an aside one of the female leads is Treni Kushneriek, she was our local FSN Pirates reporter for a number of years.....

Hey all,

COOL!!:TD: What service provider do you use and channel is it on? Inquiring minds want to know!

Bigdog:cool:

Initially it was supposed to be only availble on direct TV..........but MLB and direct came to a deal that will let MLB TV will start in over 50 million households. Comcast, Cablevision and Time-Warner will all carry the Baseball Channel from the start...

I have Comcast and it will be on channel 181

Hey all,

I have DirecTV and as soon as I read your post, I did a search for the channel. I could not find out from the DirecTV web site what channel it will be on because they don't like giving info like in advance that for some reason.:TD:

No MLB Channel. That sucks for me. I am never home to watch much anyway though.

Big Dog:

Go to MLB.com. They have a link for MLB Channel and it has a search feature where you can type in your zip code and it tells you what provider and channel you get MLB channel on. If you don't get that channel, like me, they have a link to Dish Network where you can click and fill in info and they send an e-mail to dish or local cable providers not yet signed up to let them know you want your MLB on TV (My apologies to Dire Straits).

In addition to the afforementioned Hot Stove program, off-season programming will include:

In addition, rebroadcasts or programming such as the entire 2008 World Series, team history specials such as Red Sox Memories and the series Cathedrals of the Game are scheduled for the first month of broadcasting.

Here is the one I think I am going to love..

In February, the network will embark on a month-long tour of spring training camps titled 30 Teams, 30 Days, coming from a different facility each day.

I nearly forgot about this...

Here's the link to MLB

I will be watching. It would be great if they had a half-hour weekly umpire show. Even if only in insomniac hours for us to record.

and they should call it "Baseball's Narrowest Door"......if I can find some contact info, I may try and send the programming people a few emails....Tony Petitti, former executive producer of CBS Sports, is the network's first president.....anyone got any contacts??

Now if only I could get a cheaper version of "Extra Innings" where I only get 1 team instead of all 30. I just want to be able to get all the A's games; I don't care about the Nationals vs the Marlins!

(no offense to fans of said teams of course:) )

god I hope I get it here. I hate looking at the NBA channel at work. What a waste of space. The NFL network at least is informative but the NBA one is useless.

MLB, please save us!

By the way, does it look like its going to be on DISH?
