I have been reading on the board since February, decided it was time to become a member and post a bit. I umpire in the Northwest Mississippi area. Had been out of umpiring for a few years busy with kids and wife's coaching career. Prior to my hiatus I called high level youth baseball(12-16 year olds), high school, and some juco. I played college baseball and began umpiring as a high schooler team earn some extra money. In all I had called about 15 years. Had the opportunity to call several high school playoff games in Mississippi. Life got too busy and I took a break for a few years. Missed it a bunch, and I got back in this spring. Mainly called at Snowden Grove in Southaven, MS and Latimer Lakes in Horn Lake, MS. Both parks host tournaments that bring in teams from all over the country(mostly TN, MS, AR, LA, AL, GA, TX, MO, IL). Primarily the tournaments are USSSA. Called the AABC and Dizzy Dean World Series. I'll get back into high school next spring(2013). Lots of great info here on this board. Has helped a lot with getting refreshed after the break. Also helpful with some new gear purchases I have made.

Which means I'm retarded

I couldn't say it better myself.

First step to a cure is admitting it!

From one Blue Bell plant to another sounds like the definition of sanity not retardation.

When I moved here in 93, the didn't have ice cream. Some cheap facsimile called Barber's. It took a few years, but Bama learned what REAL ICE CREAM is supposed to tase like. Thank the UIC upstairs.

I was gonna post a pic of the Homemade Vanilla in my freezer, but I am out of postability???

For high school in our area the only number you need is Don Corey 901-491-6950. He is the assignor for Northwest Mississippi. He has Desoto County, al the way down to Oxford/Water Valley area. Usually the first meeting is in December or January. Won't hurt to go ahead and give him a call now so he can get your info to let you know whats going on. If you are interested in calling the tournaments at Snowden(Southaven) or Latimer Lakes(Horn Lake) let me know and I can give you contact info for those as well.

Okay great. I have already spoken with Mr. Corey and that will work great. I usually don't do a lot of younger kids ball because it seems to always conflict with my sons activities.

Snowden and Latimer Lakes have tournaments just about every weekend from March through July. Both have fall ball weekend tournaments as well. Both parks have league games every weeknight from April through July. The tournament play is very good and has up to 16 year olds. I have never done any of the league play at either park. Good way to pick up some games on weekends if you're available Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.
