I worked a UTrip tournamnet this weekend 11 Games, U13 and U14.

We had ended one of our games early. So I went over to the other field to watch them for a bit.

I saw a BR trip over first base, The base was wet and slippery. He went flying and landed a few feet away in foul territory. While he was laying there F3 tagged him and BU called the runner out! :shakehead:

After some arguing the call was reversed.

Then there was a guy doing the plate. Never seen him before. After every pitch he would look at BU to see if it was a strike or a ball.:no::no:BU would signal him for the call! :shakehead::shrug::shakehead:

I immediately called the tournamnet director.

Didn't see the guy again all weekend.

Guys like those make us all look bad. They BOTH should be..... I don't know but they shouuld be something!

Yeah, no doubt....BOTH of them...no, wait, I mean all THREE of them!

I do wonder what in the world was going on there in the second case, especially in the second case. Hahahaha...how in the world did they think this was reasonable??

Jax did you watch them for a bit, and did they do this for every pitch, with BU in all positions, A, B, and C?

Maybe...

1) They were testing a new mechanic! "Dual-calling" --- both umpires weigh in on a pitch, then PU makes the final decision.

or

2) They were playing games with the coaches, having explained to them (at the plate meeting) that they would be umpiring the game by committee to avoid mistakes... and none of it was for real.

or

3) BU was signaling his approval of PU's plate stance, head height, etc., after each pitch.

or

4) They were being controlled by microchips embedded in their heads by the TD prior to the game...as a test...of a new system invented by DOD...and being tried on umpires...since, well, nobody likes umpires anyway...

or

5) <Insert here your guess>

Watch for about 10 minutes. And that was plenty to call the TD. The next day me and my partner got assigned that field and the coaches told us they wanted to get ejected so they could just leave.

They said it was the worst they had ever seen.

We had no problems what so ever that day.
