What is you guys thought on the Pro Nine Hockey Style Umpire Helmet

i have tried one (HSM) before , not in a game but just to check out . it is great VALUE for what you get . from a very respected company . Is it total state of the art technology , no . however it is very well made with solid features , and great vision out of the cage . i know of several umpires in my local area who have this HSM . and all are pleased with the fit and performance . that being said the design may not fit youre type of head/face , but this an issue with any mask , traditional or HSM . PRO 9 advertising says all its gear , catcher or umpire has been tested by the same standards the helmets use , for 95mph rated by "NOCASE" i think thats right ? i dont know how much of that is fact/fiction . but they advertise this statement on the company web site . iam curious what midwest ump "pete" has to say . btw i have their leg guards and traditional mask . both of which have some unique design features about them . the owner of PRO9 , was the original partner(s) with diamond sports , about 8-9 years ago. they had a disagreement about business and parted ways . and he formed PRO9 , shortly there after . all PRO9 gear though maybe not as technology as advanced , it brings great value to the buyer . PRO9 isnt very flashy gear , but it gets the job done , and then some . the leg guards are very light considering the design , 1.8 pounds as stated at Ump-Attire.com .

Jax

I did a lot of checking recently on HSM.

I got a AllStar MVP-2500 System 7.

I highly recommend it.

All pads are completely replaceable and it is very comfortable.

I have now take one shot to it.

Didn't feel a thing but since it was the first in a HSM the noise inside surprised me...lol.

Great vision thru the mask also.

Thanks Pete for posting. I just noticed at one point we had mistakenly listed 39.99 on the above two items. If you were interested in either of those and saw the misquoted price, then you can use code 3MFST42 at checkout to get the lower price. If you didn't see the lower price, then just ignore you ever read this message. :)

The Pro Nine helmet is a clearance item and is basically a beginner's or for use as a backup if you wanted one at that price. Most people who want more protection in a helmet choose a more protective helmet in the Wilson or All Star variety.

Added a few additional items today as well.

We are debating discontinuing Pro Nine so when we sold out of the mask, we decided not to order as we evaluated further. Any thoughts either way are welcomed.

hi jim , i cant speak for the pro9 HSM . however here in so cal , the leg guards , traditional mask , and CP are popular . as mentioned i have the LG and traditional mask . i have other masks as well . there are umpires , again here in the "OC" (so cal) . who work HS varsity , and use this gear . i worked a HS gm yesterday with a guy who wears the CP . i asked him have you ever been hurt by any direct hits in the 80 mph + . he says no problems with the CP . everybody is different , i know . i really like the LG , but again i dont have really thick legs . pro9 above HS , maybe not !!! pro9 doesnt seem to have much mass distribution across the midwest and east . based on what i read on the blogs , the brand isnt mentioned much ? btw i went to their company site and dont believe i saw any umpire traditional shown only HSM ??

thanks marc

Do you work for Pro 9? Seems that way considering how much you've posted about them lately....
