Assistants are the worst! Refereeing a hockey game once, I told an assistant that he was there to open and close the door for the players. Shortly thereafter they needed a new door opener/closer.

After a play at the plate, "hey blue, he's gotta slide!" "he did slide! It wasn't a good one, but he slid!"

I rarely if ever chat with the fans, so I thought this pretty funny..... Fan: hey blue what strike zone are you looking at? Me: as I turn and make eye contact "the only one that matters." This really happened.
