This is a great testiment to why you buy pro gear in the first place. Look at the price that used platinums fetch, THEN figure out your total cost for wearing good stuff over the years.

So hears what I do. Buy good stuff, and either donate it to kids, or resell in eBay a couple years down the line. Either way, you're wearing the best protection out there, and doing a good thing (either for your wallet or your community)

I e-mailed both sellers. They are both the Larger size of the Platinum. The newer one listed (has more time on the auction) was purchased from Ump-Attire

Kyle is exactly right.

At the time of this post #1 is up to $76 & #2 is up to $81.02.

Some people will buy anything on ebay without researching prices elsewhere first!

The final sale price on CP #2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120602192904) was $112.50 + $15 shipping.

Brand new unused Wilson Platinum sells for $139.95 with free shipping from HQ4Sports.com

So for $127 the buyer gets what was described as "new" (per Ebay's definition of 'new'):

Item specifics

Condition: New without tags: A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) that is not in original packaging or may be missing original packaging materials (such as the original box or bag). The original tags may not be attached. See all condition definitions- opens in a new window or tab... Read moreabout the condition

And then described by the seller as:

Up for auction a like new wilson platinum chest protector. I bought this chest protector in March 2010. I used it for 5 games. The protector has no cracks and is in excellent condition. Thans for looking!!

+1.

Yep. I hope the thing doesn't smell funky from the 5 times it was used.

I love how the ad for the well used platinum was written.

There is some rust on the few metal pieces, and the nylon covering the back has some staining. The only "flaw" in this CP is that it is hot; plastic shell does not "breathe".

It's stained, rusty and hot, and still commands 76 bones. Mine's five years old, in better shape, and I paid $120 for it. If I get $80 for it, that's less than 10 bucks a year for quality protection.

Why would you buy anything other than a Gold or Platinum?
