Honigs Pants

Received my first pair of Honigs Plate pants. I will say that I am impressed. Great quality!

I have been wearing Smittys Combo pants this season and am happy with them also.

Can't wait to the the Honigs behind the plate. I just wish they had the expandable waist band like the Smittys.

Been wearing 38's with the smittys and they fit great at the start of the season but now after losing over 20 pounds this spring thay are loose. So I ordered 36's with the Honigs and they are just a tad tight but wearable. If they had the expandable waist they would be perfect. I will be losing more weight so they will be perfect soon.

+2, poly wools are worth their weight in solid gold bars. Even though they are expensive, they are worth it.

Also I dry clean them only once a month. Mine see the field and washer machine atleast 5 days out of a week. I wash them with woolite on gentle cycle and dry them on low heat for about 5 min and put them right on the hanger. Most times I dont even need to iron them as the crease stays sharp right out of the dryer.

More piling on..........but over the years I have had a number of Plate and base pants..... and I only bought quality pants.......

I had +POS when they were the supplier to MiLB, Cliff Keen and Fetchheimers.........

as evidenced by the above responses....The Honigs Poly wools are the best....like Kevin says....once you put them on, you will know why.....

I cannot wait till the spring. Gonna buy some Poly-Wools and see what all the rave is. All my other gear is pro gear, so now it is time to step it up with the pants.

I will still probably wear my Smitty and GD charcoal pants on some days, but for most HS assignments I will be going with the best.

That's exactly how it's done ... only, for me, it's the Honig's Ultimates as the less-expensive alternates.

I go with two polywool plates; two ultimate plates; one polywool base; one ultimate base. I steam or dry clean the polywools; I steam or wash & dry the ultimates.

... All my other gear is pro gear, so now it is time to step it up with the pants.

Head to toe:

New Era, Wilson Titanium, Majestic, UnderArmour (compression undershirt), Wilson Gold (or Douglas CP), Honig's Polywool, Boston garrison belt, Dri-Lo Bags (or ump-attire ultimates), McDavid (compression leggings), UA Shock Doctor Titan Alloy (cup), UA (jock), McDavid (neoprene knee and thigh sleeves), Wilson Gold (or Douglas shins) UA (socks), New Balance 450s

So, for the sum of a little over $300 more than a package of mediocre or crappy gear and uniforms, I couldn't be A) more comfortable; better protected; C) happier and more satisfied. Three hundred bucks! Good grief, I can spend that taking my kid to a Bud Selig-era ballgame. Even more if I take a second kid. Three hundred's nothing when it comes to doing this gig comfortably and with the ultimate in performance and protection.

And, for a lot of the UA and McDavid stuff, I paid much less than the regular price, so it's the same as buying crap, but I get to have the best.

Lets see... I have 3 diffrent brand of pants, I have 2 pair plate SMITTY, 2 pair of base SMITTY, and 2 pair of Sansabelt Base pants. None of these see the field anymore unless field conditions are muddy. All I wear or want to wear is the Poly-wools. I will be buying an aditional plate and base when Honigs has there Christmas sale at the end of the year :rollinglaugh:

Another vote for the poly wools.

I've got plate/base in Davis and heather, just in case. Plus, I've got really, really nice poly wools in the plastic dry cleaning wrap for big games, and every days on rotation.

Even found a pair with white pockets in my every day rotation. Now that I know that they're "extra" cool, I'll save those for my Luciano calls at first. (Sans the white belt)

Can you imagine how funny this conversation was?

Well, I put on my Honigs for the first time today. Felt good. Headed to the game. Got there to find out everyone was there but the HOME Team. HC canceled the game didn't bother telling anyone else.

Maybe next time. At least I still got my full game fee. And I only live 5 minutes from the park. My partner had to drive 30 miles.
