Not a whole lot there. One angle looked like his lead foot could have broken the plane before he made his move to first, but I don't see how the HP umpire picks that one up.

I agree Mike, ...It appears that there's a little "hitch" when he makes his move, kind of a rock forward....that's what I think he sees ...........

Looks like he stepped more towards home than first. The Padres TV guys are some of the worst homers I've heard on these clips.

Did he step towards home?

That is what I have.

he is over the 45 degree mark towards home.

Balk and good call.

That's a balk.

F1's leg goes up, down, then out toward 1B. The minute F1 lowered his leg, he was committed to complete that step. Whether that step would have been to HP or 1B does not matter.

F1 failed to step directly prior to throwing.

"That's a step balk, Bud."

+1

Like Thunder saw, I thought the hitch was F1 moving towards home and then changing it to a move towards first.

Guys, why are you debating this. The announcers clearly state that it was a balk because it was a great move. Pay attention. :hopmad:

Like the Andy Pettitte "balk" move.
