Even knowing what to look for, I can't see it on the frontal view. Only the side angle shows it. I'm fine using replay for this kind of reversible situation, but I don't blame the crew for missing it, esp the PU.

Agreed. Every year, there are examples of what may be a good place for replay. But, this play is exactly why it shouldn't be in. Here is why: there have been reports (maybe even just rumors) of NFL officials making the easy call knowing they can just review it. Then, change it if necessary. Why are they even there anymore then?

I don't want the same to happen here. The umpires (generally) do a pretty good job to see as much as possible and get in the best possible position. If replay comes in, will they get lazy about it? I don't even want it to come in and find out. If they don't have that mindset to begin with, then they don't just get lazy and think "Oh, if I don't see as much as I can, replay will help me." Why have an official make the call at that point? Just have one to call balls/strikes and leave all base calls to the cameras.

It is already that way on homeruns. If someone asks, go to the camera. Why bother even relying on what we saw or didn't see? The camera has it all hopefully.

I just don't want it not even for something like this to keep the officials from getting lazy.

I say implement instant replay on any play that ends an attempt at a perfect game. 9 times out of 10 instant replay will be out the window by the end of the 1st.
