With 2011 coming to a close in a few weeks, it's time to start thinking about goals for next year, what are yours?

My 2011 goal was to attend a good camp and getting better at working the field. My goal for next year is to put all of that learning to work on the bases. Specifics; improved angle on double plays, foot work on double plays, angle creation on all plays.

Stay off of the news / YouTube, lol

Hang in there U24...you showed big time seeds last year when you posted that video...that says a lot about your character. I wish more umpires had your temperament. You had the guts to admit your mistake. I had the chance to talk to a former MLB catcher who was in the National League for a couple of years and he said that the thing players like about Jim Joyce (pre-Armando), was that if he missed a pitch, he would admit it....(ie, he was human). Obviously you don't want to make a career of saying you missed x,y, or z, but to be human about it when it happens is appreciated by all when appropriate.

This year was my first year working HS Games. I got to work some Varsity but it was all low level games. My goal is to work better Varsity games and maybe some District Playoff games.

It'll be my second year umpiring and first in school ball. I want to lose weight to "look" more the part and make a good impression and move up to some JV games. I just want to learn and grow to be a respected umpire.

Looking "fit" is certainly playing the part. It's been a big push at the professional levels as well, and bottom line, it is healthier.

My Goals for 2012 is to continue to network with higher level officials. Also to continue to loose weight and get myself in the best shape possible. My weight loss goals are to loose an additional 20lbs by the end of this season. I'm also planning on going to 3 professional clinics this year. Also to work on my game management and 3man mechanics.

My goals for the upcoming season are to go to the Southern Umpire's Camp, work with and network with higher level umpires, and work at least 2 HS district playoff games. I've already accomplished my first goal, and that was to be assigned an NCAA Division III game.

You'll enjoy the Southern Camp!
