This video doesn't show ALL of this .........but for those who did see this game, there was quite a 'discussion' to make sure the coaches are asking the right questions for the umpires to ask each other for help ..........

It's so funny to see these guys, ...and think,....I met them!! :)

Good reversal! U1 was probably listening to the glove and didn't see the bobble.

There's no way Scott saw any of that .......it was a good reversal. What I was most impressed with is that NO one got EJ'd ...and no one got all pissed off. What does this say / What can we learn from this?

Good job by the crew to get together and change the call. But, does anyone think he was a little quick on the out call? He was making the out call before Elsbery was passed the base and the catch wasn't completed.

OOPS. I watched it again and I am not sure what I was thinking when I was typing, I meant passed him. It's still early here. Personally, I thought he was a little quick still though. Does anyone else agree or am I in that boat alone?

The only way this becomes a conference is if the manager says the magic words about the bobble. If he comes out about the runner beat the throw or he does that first and then goes fishing for the bobble, then no help should be asked. He needs to come out immediately asking about the bobble.

I'm sure he did that and all U1 can say is he didn't see him juggle the ball. Nothing wrong about being honest about not seeing something which would be impossible for him to see it. He was completely screened and was unable to judge on the juggle or not. If he did see it and still ruled it an out, then no conference should be done. It would have been his judgment and no help should be asked for.

But, since he had no chance to even render a judgment on something he couldn't see and PU was in a position to be able to help (no other responsibilities on the play), getting help IMO is OK in this situation.

A great example of where the 90 degree concept comes into play.

I agree. His angle should have been more in between 1B and 2B. May not have seen real well from that depending on how F3 might have moved. But, it would have given him a much better look possibly than where he was. At least, a much better chance to get a better look.

Maybe but if he was watching the base and listening for the ball he still might not of seen the bobble. Aand while 90 degrees would give a better look at the bobble if the throw had been toward second and maybe pulled the foot then 90 degrees wouldnt give a good look at that and we would be having a discussion about how two steps fair is better. So as I always say theres a best spot for every call but you often dont know what that spot is until the play is over.

That play was probably too quick for Scott to even get into position between First and Second, he did a good job just getting the angle he did.

Maybe since we don't get a shot of the big picture to see how everything unfolded.
