I just received my Reebok plate shoes and a pair of Reebok base shoes from ump-attire. I actually love the base shoes and could not ask for anything more. I think they look great, and love that the flap is velcro and can be easily removed.

With the plate shoes, though, the protective flap is a bit wide, and looks funny. If anyone else has these, do you agree? Do they wear in eventually and not look so funny. I did try them on with a pair of regular gym pants (the kind with the zipper at the bottom of the leg), but I don't think that is the entire reason they looked funny. I still like the look of them, and think I am going to love the turf traction on the bottom. Just curious if anyone else who owned a pair may have thought the same thing.

I got mine on Wed from S.O.S. Sports.

Love the fit.

They get used this weekend 2x on Sat, 2x Sun and once on Monday.

Yes the Plate seems large but I like the way it forms over the foot to provide excellant protection.

Agreed! It does appear that the protection will be second to none! Just going from the New Balance to these, I guess it just seems a little odd. I'm sure it will grow on me.

When I first saw the Reebok plate shoes, I thought they looked like two small cars heading down the street.

Once you're wearing them with plate pants on (you're wearing plate pants, right, not combos...?) then they won't look as big, because when you hem the plate pants at the appropriate length (here I go again, Ump24... :question1: ) the pants will cover them up quite a bit.

I agree with you. It looks...interesting...when PU's pants look more like long shorts when he gets into the plate stance. Teenagers get an excemption, because we grow. Hence, now that I think I've maxed out at 6'0 even, time to invest in those plate pants.

On the other hand, I wish appropriate pant length was the most we had to worry about

True, but you can avoid looking like a rookie (or someone waiting for floodwaters) by looking the part as soon as you step onto the field. Nobody wants to be "that guy"... :question1:

BTW, Reebok plate shoes are now on eBay for $30, or maybe less. They're marked $60 OBO, so I bid 30 and got 'em. Search under Reebok Magistrate. Let us know how low you got yours. You already know 30 will work, so go lower.

Don't be a namby pamby.

I wear a size 11.5 in regular tennis shoes (I wear UnderArmour and Nike) and I bought a regular size 11.5 in the Reebok Plate and Base Shoes. Mine fit just like my regular tennis shoes do. Hope this helps!

Wore my new Reebok's last night for two games.

Very comfortable, I love them.

Time for a pancake brunch and off to the field for 4 more games.

Past two on the dish with my "Bullet Proof Pillows" on my feet.

So, finally stoked to get my Magistrate Plate shoes that I got off ebay for $30. Should of known better!! Although they picture the plate shoe, the ones that arrived were not plate shoes. They were just the low tuffs. Anyway, told them they sent me the wrong ones, that I won the bid on the plate shoes, and their response was "oops, we put up the wrong picture, we don't actually have any plate shoes for sale". What a bummer. At least they refunded my money and let me keep the shoes, but now I have found that everyone that bought those old style magistrates and had them on sale for $60 and under have all sold out... Oh well, win some, lose some.

The whole point is, if you see the ebay listings for plate shoes on the Reebok's, make sure they really are plate shoes they are selling!

First, sorry in advance. Mine are due to be delivered today, and I'll bet I'll get the same non-plate shoes. Damnation! Oh well, free base shoes. Could be worse, but sorry guys.

They told you that they "put up the wrong picture" ? - - what a pantload.

I notice that there are no listing for those shoes anymore... I wonder if someone else complained and ebay lifted them?

And the written description - didn't they state that they were plate shoes?

No, I went back and the listing did not say specifically plate shoes. I was worried she would give me grief over it, but her response and credit to my paypal account came at the same time. She realized that they had the wrong picture and corrected it. Honest mistake. If anyone else finds those plate shoes please let me know.

I should have seen the retail price as a tip off that these weren't plate shoes. They list at over a C note. My fault. Heck, she's offered money back, and you get to keep the shoes. Now that's customer service.

The "normal" sizes went pretty quickly.

It's $60, or best offer. We've already established that she'll take $30.

If you dig a bit, you'll see it's a shoe store.

The picture (and price) are a base shoe, but the item description is for a plate shoe...:crazy:
