Good game and nothing strange. Too bad the Angels gave the game away towards the end. Oh well, let's see if the Phillies can repeat.

I thought Dale Scott remained very consistent behind the plate.

There were only a couple that he called a ball which the little box said he missed. He was very consistent of giving a couple of inches off the outside corner. And, any I thought were a strike he called a ball, the little box showed it was a little too low or inside.

Overall, I thought he did a very good job. Some redemption for the pick off play he missed. The players definitely decided how game 6 turned out.

I was watching his strike zone closely too and I thought he was on the money. Kudos to the big boys.

Makes me wonder about McClelland's complaint about the tag-up replay in game four. One camera showed the catch and a different camera showed the tag. Show me the camera that has the catch and tag. That's the only replay that matters.

I agree. I saw them do that split-screen thing at a different game during the season and the talking heads insisted that the two cameras were "time-synched" but that is BS. There is no way that a replay like that should be relied on. :banghead:

Anyone have an idea how they locate to pitches on the "FoxTrax" thingy? Is it info from QuesTec? Is it some guy in the Fox or TBS trailer giving his/her best opinion as to where the pitch is in relation to home plate and the batter????

From the replays of Swisher leaving early I thought it was a lot closer than they made it sound. Maybe it's just me.

I think it's just some made up tool they use to hose umpires and make their hero's look good. I seriously doubt that the broadcasters would get a hold of the official Zone Evaluation info. I gave up on the Fox Trax and other zone tools right after they started showing them. One think they did is have David Eckstein have the same size zone as Jeter. I'd say there's probably the better part of a foot difference in the zone for those two.

I think the WUA when they go to negotiate their new contract should fight for holding announcers accountable errant and senseless blothiating which makes umpires look bad when in actuality they are correct more often than the general public realizes.

The league, to their credit, has held players and managers more accountable but the broadcasters don't have a clue and have no accountability.

At least now you are starting to here a few announcers admit that the box is just a representation of the strike zone and not the actual strike zone. It's totally useless.

I have always wondered where it marks the pitch. Is it only two dimensional and catching it as it crosses the front of the plate. The strike zone is three dimensional.
