First and foremost, I hope that the pitcher will be ok.

1-2, 2 out. After the checked swing, PU immediately turns and goes to 1BU as he's done a thousand times before. As he does, he misses everything else. Batter does stick his foot out and trip F2. It looks like PU says something to F2 afterwards, perhaps that he didn't see anything. By not waiting for the play to finish, he didn't get a good look at it.

I have batter INT. But it's so easy to see it on vid from the CF camera. Did the crew get together after the play? All due respect to these guys for truly earning their way into regionals, but if I saw it, INT. On purpose or inadevertent, injury notwithstanding, the foot was up & out there and impeded the throw.

I do not have any sources to cite but was watching the following game and the pitcher was suited up and smiling, looks like he's going to be ok. Tough to watch though. Can't imagine watching that if I was his parent.

I thought the catcher tripped on his own. I see nothing wrong on this play.

I have to slightly disagree. F1 did not do his job completely. What is the Number 1 rule in baseball? Watch the ball and know where it is. As an ex-catcher and pitcher, I never looked at 2B until I knew where the ball was going. I had my share of almost hitting a pitcher or 2 (mainly b/c they were very tall and ended up higher than most) and they were looking at 2B but I missed.

But, F2 did his job the best he could under the circumstances. But, as for the play, no BI.
