I can't get a good angle on this one, but he may have got him!!

Do I need to rethink my HP play positioning? This is the second clip I see (first was Joe West in the RH batter's box when Posey got crashed) with the PU in the RH batter's box to call the play. I'm thinking being that close you are only going to see the tag or the foot touch but not both. Being furthor away like most of us are taught might be better. But, those guys know more than me.

It's tough to see when the tag was applied vs. when the foot touches the plate. He is a little too close for me but I don't like being that close. Who knows if he could see the foot or not b/c it looks like he is fixed on seeing if the tag is made. Benefit goes to him since no angle is clear cut and he has to see it in real time. The touch of HP is pretty close to the same time as the tag. I had him safe but I had a completely different angle to look at.

I think the runner's only argument was "He didn't tag me" which is why PU points at the spot where he did tag him. Close and about as close of a tag play as one can get of which happened first.

This umpire was in the LH batters box and thats the right spot for this call.
