Hey all, Ive tried searching this a couple times and am not finding a definitive answer, but how many different types of HSM are there? I know of three, being the Wilson Shock Titanium series, Allstars MVP series, and then the default that ASA sells which is the Schutt HSM Umpire. are there any others? all of my searches have come up empty... So the "Bent Frame" thread reminded me.... i used to have a low profile Wilson Titanium for 2+ seasons that took all kinds of shots and never dented at all. I sold it and bought a regular profile Titanium before the 2012 season. I posted about this last spring, but after I had used it for all of about 2 months, it dented from a pitch that went over the catcher after hitting the ground and hit me in the upper horizontal bar just above the eye. It was a high school game and the pitch was all of about 74 mph. I called Wilson, and after they initially balked at replacing it and said there was no warranty, they eventually sent me a replacement. I used that replacement for another couple of months, but took a foul ball last summer and the second mask dented as well. At that point I contacted the retailer where the original mask came from who got ahold of a Wilson rep, who ended up sending me a THIRD Titanium. Well fast forward to two Fridays ago and I'm working at the same place where the first mask was dented last spring. Another 70-ish mph fastball, this time ends up a foul ball and dents the "U" shaped bar at the top of the mask. I'm still mulling over what to do about it, or if I want to even bother with it. Either way I'm getting a different mask after this season. I am done with Wilson masks. I love how the Titaniums fit and the vision is good, but three masks shouldn't all dent after only being used less than six months each, and all from baseballs traveling at relatively slow velocity.

Thought this was interesting as this has been discussed here before, ad nauseum. Umpire Mask :D

These days it seems when I'm watching an MLB game on T.V. That 50% of the time the plate umpire is wearing a all-star mask. Ted Barrett's in-particular appears to have great protection and vision I also have noticed that among others Eric Cooper and Fieldin Culbreth have switched to all-star masks. Does anyone know something that we may not know about these new all-star umpire masks do they have more protection or better vision than any of the Wilson steel masks?

I listed two of my masks on eBay, so I thought I would put up the links here. I assume that it is okay. The first is a low profile Wilson Titanium with newer Honigs pads. (No nasty Nike pads here) The other is the Easton I bought on eBay a while back, which has not been used at all. I like it and it is a nice mask but I want to sell both and get a new Wilson. I'll soon be in the market for new pants, and will probably buy a new mask in the process. I'll probably end up getting Poly-Wools, but Honigs' site is not desireable for learning anything about the masks for sell. Does anyone have recommendations? I'm looking for something under $100 that's light and comfortable. I want the traditional mask, not HSM.

Okay, noob question that I never have found anyone to ask or ever seen it discussed so I thought I would address it to the internet experts....... The rain is killing me. I have lost 6 games in the last week. Most of us of try to match in all facets of our on field wear. I understand the following; ball bags should always match the hat or the pants, undershirts should match the shirt color or the a trim color, patent leather and real leather should not be mixed, pant color should match partners, etc..... I am sure there are more but you get the point. Given this level of attention to detail why are navy masks not worn with navy hats and jackets? For MLB and MILB I understand. They always wear black hats. Black on blue is not a typical combination seen anywhere else. My association mostly wears navy and powder blue but, I cannot ever recall seeing one navy mask. Ump Attire doesn't list any navy masks on its website so they cannot be in demand. Honigs does have them available. Was there/is there a time and a place for the navy blue mask or Is it passe' and a relic from time gone by? PSA- I do not have one and I have no real desire to get one. After holding my Spring gear sale I am happy being able to get all my gear in one bag. That is until someone comes out with the next great thing......

Transitioning to an HSM this season, so I have several traditional masks for sale: Wilson TI (standard profile) , All-star FM25 TI, Diamond featherweight ( with wilson pads) and All-star FM25 steel.... If anyone is interested in any of these... pm me.

I'd heard about Carlucci's CPs and shins but never a mask. But apparently there's one available on Ebay. Carlucci mask.
