These days it seems when I'm watching an MLB game on T.V. That 50% of the time the plate umpire is wearing a all-star mask. Ted Barrett's in-particular appears to have great protection and vision I also have noticed that among others Eric Cooper and Fieldin Culbreth have switched to all-star masks. Does anyone know something that we may not know about these new all-star umpire masks do they have more protection or better vision than any of the Wilson steel masks?

This coming spring I have been debating on weather or not to get a low profile umpire mask. While I have heard that they offer great vision of the entire plate, I have also heard that a shot to the face can really hurt. Does anyone have any experiences with a low profile umpire mask? Any Pros/Cons either or?

I'm not doing anything I'm asking a question if your going to negatively answer saying I'm "trolling" or whatever don't answer. I'm looking for serious answers and if your not going to provide one don't answer at all.

Does anyone know where to get a tan padding umpire mask with the extended throat guard that Jeff Nelson was wearing in tonight's game? I really like the very extended throat guard and I may want to get this mask.

Relax. Don't worry about everyone breaking your stones. Kevin is "right on" if you would like to meet Gary in person one on one. In the event you cannot go as Kevin suggested, the second alternative would be to contact the MLB office as Nate suggested. Due to security, do not expect MLB or HR to give you any contact information whatsoever. The best you can hope for probably, is that they pass your request to Cederstrom and for Cederstrom to contact you. Make sure you leave all possible ways to contact you personally. There is definitely someone at MLB that could step in and help you without contacting Cederstrom since this would probably get forwarded to people under Baseball Operations of which Joe Torre is responsible. Randy Marsh is director of umpiring and could easily answer your question as could Rich Rieker who runs the camps Kevin was talking about. They could get an answer for you, since, as former umpires they probably keep up with the equipment. Just googling around, here is another alternative. A third alternative is to contact the World Umpires Association. The address is PO Box 394, Neenah, WI 54954. You can go online to www.worldumpires.com and contact them by email. Once again, do not be expecting a direct contact with Cederstrom. They can pass along your information to him and leave it up to him to contact you. I decided a little while ago that I had my eyes on a HSM in fact it was the one Gary Cederstrom was wearing which was a titanium HSM mask with a matte finish which isn't sold anywhere. After contacting Jim Kirk I found out that the only way I could get it was to try and get it right off Cederstrom does anyone know how to contact him?
