  1. Because I'm Canadian.
  2. Ok, all my patches are in. American Legion Umpire Patches, American Flag (right hand), and Canadian Flag. Where my problem occurs is attatching the Canadian flag. Both American and Canadian flags are 3" x 2". So, all you fashionistas out there, where should I attatch them. I've emailed American Legion Baseball and Flag and Emblem (supplier of the Legion patches) with no reply.
  3. Noticed tonight that a navy plate coat is available on ebay.
  4. 1. We have been told to buy black if only purchasing one jacket, since navy is being slowly phased out in our area (BC, Canada). But, you should check with your local association to be sure. 2. Most jackets are sized like the shirts. I wear a L shirt on the bases and an XL behind the plate which is the same as my jacket sizes. 3. A previous post mentioned +POS jackets were available through +POS on ebay for $29 This is a good price for a quality jacket. As far as combo jackets go, the only ones I know of are the Officials Choice combo (about $30) and the Majestic pre order combos (Ump Attire -- $70). I'm personally not a fan of any OC products and $70 is a ton to pay for the Majestics.
  5. +1 If this wasn't true, the runner on second (advancing to third) could make a bee-line to home as soon as the obstruction occured. Making him touch prevents this.
  6. +1 ordered 2 of each last month
  7. I'm 4 chapters in. Not a bad read, but you're right -- he is a little wordy. And I wonder if Max was alright with all the references to drinking and driving??
  8. Tried the # yesterday with no luck. But, I got the +POS message tonight, so I guess the glitch is fixed.
  9. I would like some mids in all black, if they come available in January.
  10. I've been dealing with Dan from +POS lately. I call the usual number yesterday (1-866-664-8840) and got some weird insurance message. Does anyone know what this is about? Does anyone have an alternate number to call?
  11. I know there's been a ton of talk about the dislike of the powder blue shirts. I recently received my order from baseballsavings.com that had 2 polo blue shirts in it and I was shocked. The shirt I owned was polo blue all along (Honigs). So my question is ---- What is the difference between the polo and powder color? Could someone post a picture of the two together so I can see the difference? I'm unable to pick up the difference looking at pictures online.
  12. you always want an odd number of umpires at a base
  13. Good pitchers change their delivery, time of stop, etc. all the time. No balk. In your situation, I see no balk as long as he delivers the ball.
  14. Thanks for the advice guys. I always hang dry my shirts, but that's a good tip about not folding the collars when hanging.
  15. I just bought a can of Scotch Gard for the collars and trim on my new shirts. I've never used it before. So, how much do I spray on? Do I spray then wash? Do I only spray once? Do I only use on new shirts? Also does this only help the collar from fading or does it also keep the collars stiff?
  16. I voted for "one word"; I just say "THREE!" as I punch forward and pull the chainsaw stepping back slightly with my right leg and lifting my front leg off the ground slightly (does that make sense?). I used to "pull the chain" to the side, but have changed my mechanic since an evaluation last year. I was pulling my head to the right on every strike three call.
  17. I ordered 2 of each color (1 for base and 1 for the plate) and love the fit. I was worried they might fit small. Because I live in Canada, the shipping would'nt have been worth sending them back. I was wondering if it may be worth getting a few powder blues in the "deluxe" style. If the cotton is only in the trim and collar, it may be a possibility.
  18. They still come with the folding accessory. I'd just rather use a larger "hang up" style apparel bag (I assume slo8140 does the same with the Honig's apparel bags).
  19. I really love the idea, but I doubt anyone in my area would order one unless we made it manditory for a tournament (and supplied the umpires with a shirt). So, I doubt I'll order one.
  20. I purchased the Force3 (Jim Evans) bag last off season and used it throughout this season. I find it perfect for me, since I prefer to carry my shirts, pants and jackets in an apparel bag. A few guys I work with have the Diamond bag and they like it (all of them carry their apparel in the bag).
  21. I've just never purchased a shirt that's not 100% polyester. Anyone own the deluxe shirts?
  22. I found this post on "Umpire Fraternization with Team" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month August, 2010"
  23. My "Scraper" lasted 1 inning. In the top of the second, as I was sweeping to start the inning, the brush shattered into three pieces. Dan's put another one in the mail.
  24. I ordered a bunch of Majestic shirts from baseballsavings.com a few weeks back. I now notice they have a "Deluxe Polo" for sale on their website (a polyester-cotton blend). Does anyone have experience with these? Are they any good? Do they shrink?
  25. I'm looking at purchasing the Honig's poly-wool pants. I contacted Honig's Canada today and the fellow I talked to said they had them in stock. The item #'s are B21AP and B21AB (plate and base). He assured me they were the "official" poly-wool pants. The price is $74.99 each (which is less than the poly-wools on the USA Honig's website). Just wondering if anyone has ordered the poly-wools from Honig's Canada and if these two items quoted are actually what I'm looking for.
