  1. Welcome, since you are an ex player we will not try to break you of saying "foul ball" and "dead ball"🙂
  2. Other than the varied MLB umps techniques which they would have to explain which one among them should be espoused, I've seen some varied official recommendations as to distance and angle from 1B. I have always gone off the foul line and moved closer for a square angle at F1 and took a step to the foul line if F1 delivered. But in my perusing of how things should be done I see other techniques.
  3. Subs "should" be listed and the PU should not accept a card that obviously does not have all subs listed. But there is no penalty if an unlisted sub enters the game. They are legal to enter the game.
  4. Is it uncertain or certain. My bold added. "The argument that when a traditional mask spins off during impact it helps lessen the impact is still uncertain. NOCSAE has done tests and has concluded that when you get hit with a traditional mask on, Harness titeness not specified, all the energy is transferred to the head almost immediately"
  5. They said: "still uncertain", but in the context of HSM vs traditional masks where they, or NOCSAE, did not even specify harness tension. You and me are both working with anecdotal evidence and so are they but it seems they are trying to sell HSMs and you? and me are specifying a 1 to 2 inch sag with a traditional mask when you bend over to a ninety. Totally unscientific I grant you but I would have to ask @Rock Bottom what he espouses and what his experience has been with how he adjusts his mask.
  6. At a minimum, add a strap around the back. At a maximum, check out the Rudy Project website. Before cataract surgery, when I used progressive lenses, I just went with my distance prescription for use on the field. I could still make out a lineup card with just the distance lenses but you should confirm that for yours.
  7. So they actually tested impact with mask tension variability and came up with negligible difference in impact? Do they have a recommended harness tension setting and a way to implement it or do they say it doesn't matter how tite or loose it is.
  8. At a long ago "Desert Classic" I attended, Jim Evans demonstrated a way to check your harness tension. He bent over and demonstrated a slight, maybe 2" sag from your chin. I've always set my mask thusly. Wilson titanium with TW pads. Every hit I've taken had the mask on the floor with no impact that I could discern to my head. Rumor has it that Wison did not like MLB umps masks to come off. Thus they stay on and cause more impact.
  9. Yes. Fed not only punishes intent, it punishes stupidity.
  10. Yes, but only if you judge willful and deliberate: "6.01(a)(6) If, in the judgment of the umpire, a base runner willfully and deliberately interferes with a batted ball or a fielder in the act of fielding a batted ball with the obvious intent to break up a double play, the ball is dead. The umpire shall call the runner out for interference and also call out the batter-runner because of the action of his teammate. In no event may bases be run or runs scored because of such action by a runner (see Rule 6.01(j));"
  11. I would agree. The INT happens right away. The ball is left alive to determine fair foul.
  12. If they ignored the 2010 interp why would they not ignore the 2025 interp?
  13. Why would they believe that and what arguments did you have. RLI in any code always required a throw. What is new is the realization that FED always wanted RLI called at the moment of the throw whether the out was made or not. 2010 Interps: "SITUATION 7: B1 lays down a bunt that is fielded by F2 in fair territory a few feet in front of home plate. As B1 is 60 feet from home base, he is running outside the running lane with one foot completely in fair ground and not touching the lines of the running lane. F2 fields the ball and (a) attempts to throw to first but throws high into right field as he tries not to hit B1, or (b) does not attempt a throw. RULING: B1 is required to be in the running lane the last 45 feet to first base when the ball is fielded and thrown from an area behind him. In (a), this is interference and B1 is out and the ball is declared dead. In (b), since there was no throw, there is no interference. F2 is not required to hit B1 to demonstrate that B1 is out of the running lane, but a throw must be made for the interference to be declared. (8-4-1g"
  14. Evans had us on 3B side and if there was a safe at 2B drift to cover the pulled foot. Evans had the BU drift to a better angle for 1B if he read a routine DP at 2B but stay closer if you read a trouble play at 2B. What is the right place for PU and BU? And what do you do if BU is not in the right place? I have called a few FPSR from the 3B side and don't think I missed any that I could have seen from the 1B side.
  15. Texas TASO also like us on 1B side. Having done so and having BU obscure my view I still go to 3B side.
  16. I'm not asking about going to the mouth. The question is about blowing on the hand: OBR "EXCEPTION: Provided it is agreed to by both managers, the umpire prior to the start of a game played in cold weather, may permit the pitcher to blow on his hand." NCAA "Note: In cold weather, the umpire may announce to both teams that it is permissible for the pitcher to blow on their hand, on or off the pitching plate." FED ?
  17. I was of the opinion that in cold weather F1 could blow on his hand to warm it up, on or off the rubber, which I would tell coaches at the plate meeting. Is there a rule or interp at FED, NCAA, OBR that they have to do it off the rubber and then wipe?
  18. " (because he wasn’t at 1B time of throw). "
  19. MLB's change after the MLB ump ruled literally should convince you how to rule.
  20. An MLB umpire called a balk when a batter verbalizing time caused a pitcher to stop. A year later they changed the wording from "stepped out of the box" to "If after the pitcher starts his windup or comes to a “set position” with a runner on, he does not go through with his pitch because the batter has inadvertently caused the pitcher to interrupt his delivery, it shall not be called a balk."
  21. CC has a CWS under his belt.
  22. NCAA allows it: "Note 2: A pitcher may pause during the delivery from the windup position without penalty."
  23. Actually they know the rule the runner broke and that’s why he deserves to be out. “Don’t lead off until F1 takes the rubber”. 😊
  24. Without a sarcasm emoji in your post I have to say that I’m shocked that you would be shocked.
  25. Yes, looks like he did with the hand wave. Relaxed action where we wouldn't deny time even though F3 had the ball. So just a brain fart by U3 and crew did not pick up on it. Meanwhile YouTube and effin announcers UN- educate all. Think NCAA will RE- educate all.
