  1. YMMV - best of luck Johnny. I personally hope not to ever have this situation.
  2. You win my friend. - I fixed my comment. I simply meant prior to the crew consultation. Best of luck to you.
  3. I’m not going round and round with you on symantics of who said what or who did what or what was changed. I wasn’t there. Neither were you apparently. Simply show me a rule that covers your opinion. The Batter has turned into B/R on this play - the ball is “thrown” and there is not any “intentional” interference. Unless you believe he intentionally didn’t run for purposes of interfering - you have nothing. Be a “super umpire” and fall on your sword all you’d like - but I’ll hedge my bets with the guys at UTD and other qualified interpreters or umpires. FWIW a simple search of the UTD website tells you all you need to know about their credibility.
  4. There is no INT. It is a thrown ball and there was not “intentional” interference. This is just a tough baseball play. For what it’s worth the guys at UTD are affiliated with the ACC Supervisor. I’m quite sure they wouldn’t just put stuff out there without first confirming a correct rule interpretation with reputable sources. Too much reputation on the line to do that FWIW. I’ve personally spoke to a member of the crew and they said the NCAA agreed it was properly officiated “prior to the crew consultation”. Obviously I can’t confirm this as I was not on the phone call. The fact that it hasn’t been in an NCAA Video leads me to believe it was the correct call. I’m also quite sure that if the call was incorrect Tony Thompson would have sent something out to the entire staff.
  5. Trying to locate then associations that cover Southeastern Carolina basically RDU to Myrtle Beach. Camps they provide or what not would be great. Thanks. I’m familiar with PiedMetro (Dave and Gary) are there any others?
  6. See it call it. Fairly easy. Back to your question though. If you know what he wants to argue, he's probably yelling, so it's fair to yell back in that case. If it's your call yell at him to come see you, keep your partner out of it, most guys drag other partners into their mess. Real simple, John it's my call come see me. If he keeps going to your partner warn him again, John don't go out there it's my call.
  7. Thanks guys makes sense...and rule in Fed to support?
  8. R1 attempts steal, D3K less than 2 outs, BR runs toward 1B, F2 throws to F3 and hits BR, R1 advances to 3B On the play. What do you have? I've got the BR out and R1 back to 1B.
  9. That was exactly my thought process, I am being recorded and he cowardly turned his back, I've got to get him back this way then I can emphatically eject or he can continue walking and I've ejected him (or let him stay which the above post corrected me on). I played with and I was glad he came to get his "money worth" because on the tape it looked as if I dumped for whatever he said on his way back....and the report would have been real easy. It is Fall ball, no report needed
  10. Well said. Thanks for the input!!
  11. Interesting little discussion I had leading to an ejection Runners on 1st and 2nd -- 2 outs - 0-2 count. Batter attempts a swing, ball hits him the hands. Definitely went on the swing, no question. So he is out on the dead ball Strike 3, inning over. Of course OC wants to discuss from 3B he comes down and says “The ball hit him in the hands right†I said “Yes it hit him in the hands, on the swingâ€. He says “so it him in the hands on the check swing†I said “No it hit him on the swing, no check swing involved†He says “well then why did you kill it†I said “It’s a dead ball 3rd strike, he is out†He decides to start walking away and as he turns his back he says “This is f***ing incredible, you guys are terrible†….so I say “Coach you’re done†but I don’t give him the signal of ejection, he turns around and screaming at me so now I give the empathic ejection signal. We watched the video after the game….it looks awesome…looks like I gave him his chance to walk away and he came back aggressively… I didn’t bait him into an ejection because I said coach your done so he was already ejected; however I did bait him into looking like the a**hole. Here is my thinking: I could have chucked him when he had his back to me, since he got personal, however the impression would have been I was aggressive. By just saying “Coach you’re done†he turned around to get his monies worth so the crowd and assignors saw that on video and then the ejection signal. Bottom line I could have ejected him 10 seconds earlier but the perception would have been much different…..got to be smarter than the rats.
  12. Being discussed in another topic....alot!
  13. You don't feel 92mph when it's only 82mph or 72mph. (Adding some JP8) :-) Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  14. It's over. Officials were sanctioned, tell Wisconsin too play better defense this week. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  15. Only naturally with your name....hehehe, your real name that is! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  16. The U spots the ball and moves to his position on the ready whistle, obviously the time here was the problem and the crew was sanctioned. No huddle is fun as a U...it sucks actually. Watch this Clemson game, the U sets the tempo, watch it and you'll see it every play. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  17. My drinking and overall lack of effort were much worse I'm sure!! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  18. Someone mentioned it, I could have told the truth - By the way the pawn shop wouldn't buy the Wendelstedt card. They said if it was a Jim Evans card it would be worth something!! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  19. No wonder you never fussed about our shoes at Camp this year
  20. The U stands over the ball until the R readies the ball for play. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  21. Does anyone have any connections or reside currently in South Korea. I am on the block to be moving their in 2014 and would like to continue umpiring baseball aboard at any level possible. I know the high schools play baseball as well as semi and pro leagues. Thanks in advance.
  22. That's not a mechanic at any level and would unfairly advantage the offense. And, there's nothing to sort out. Look, you don't like how it was handled because your team lost. Fine, I get that. But the crew did fine under the circumstances, and you're wrong to blame them for the loss. You don't change mechanics because something unusual happens. I agree with you on this. What I do disagree with is the Delay of Game penalty or the lack of control for the last 18 seconds, to include the U not setting the ball and holding "the stop sign" as the clock expired. Bottom line: Wisconsin lost because they poorly executed the play, not to mention, they should have kicked the FG instead of running an additional play. The officials did not create the loss, they just didn't perform well during the final 18 seconds and have been penalized as such by the PAC 12 No. Wisconsin executed just fine. They kneeldown was over with 15 seconds left on the clock. The officials failed to spot the ball before the clock hit zero. Wisconsin was ready to spike it with 10 seconds left. 18 seconds is more than enough time to center the ball and spike, barring the officiating meltdown that happened. The fact the the Badgers were unable to attempt a field goal is entirely on the officiating crew. What about the 100+ plays that the officials were correct on? I assume it was the officials fault ASU scored or stopped Wisc from scoring during the other 100+ plays. The only thing the officials failed to do has been mentioned several times.
  23. Why not just use Kiwi like we did for years in the military. You can create a light base on the shoe and rebuff or repolish after games...it works great.

  25. Maven your wrong this time, it is not the players job to hand the ball to an official. It is beneficial, I concur. However there are NUMEROUS times throught a game that I turn to the ball boy and say "give me a new one" because the other ball is in the opposite side zone or bouncing away on an incomplete pass. The officials should have handled the situation better, period.
