    You have got to be kidding! I most certainly am not. I guarantee I can find anything you would like in an actual rule book within the same general timeframe that you're going to find it on your phone.

    Reviews from coaches aren't worth the paper they are printed on. I'm sure I have a few waiting for me on our association Arbiter page, but I frankly could not possibly care any less and won't bother ever looking at them. I'm not out there to please coaches when I umpire. My goal is to make the assigner happy. As long as I keep getting a solid regular season and postseason schedule, and have no major complaints from my assigner, a coaches opinion about ANYTHING is absolutely the last thing on this earth that I care about.

    Because it looks dumb. Makes the umpire look like they have no idea what they are doing. A definite ding, ESPECIALLY if there's not even a THROW. I usually won't even make a single if the runner beats it out by 2 or more steps. Way too obvious to even bother with.

    What the head evaluator said is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard anyone say about anything, EVER.

    I would never waste my money on something like that. I know the rules inside and out and know right where to look something up in the book in the EXTREMELY RARE event that I have a question.

    That is freaking HILARIOUS. Although a lot of MLB guys (and myself sometimes) take the mask off with BOTH hands.

    Definitely a banger that nobody will argue with either way, but I got him safe. If you look at .36 you can see the ball is not quite in the glove yet (you can see white outside the glove), while the runner's foot is clearly "deep" in the bag. Yeah, go ahead and bring that slo-mo camera with you on the field. That is an OUT at every single level of ball. I even had this one as an out at live speed.

    He was safe. Should have been INT anyway, however.

    Possession = yes. Did the runner beat the play? No he did not. At best it was a "tie." This was and should have been an OUT, every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

    Clearly a swing. Good EJ though. Manager should have been arguing with U3, not the plate guy. He deserved to get tossed just on general principle.

    Great call, and a tough one to get. Batter was in front of the plate = fair territory.

    Just crazy. Might have been a makeup call on that 2nd steal of second. Pretty damn close play, but I get why the umpire called him out.

    Clearly? IMO, the only thing that is clear is that Ross beats Nunez to the bag. I am not 100% sure a tag was made and I'm even less sure that if there was a tag it was held on Ross through his slide. I'm gonna give this one to Cuzzi. That is much closer to a 100% out than the one in the other thread where the guy popped up after a double. This one also "looks" much more like an out to the naked, untrained eye, as well as the umpire being in a thoroughly terrible position to see the play develop. Bad call.

    OK, I hate to even bring it up, but why not: What are you guys getting paid for a single, a how far are you typically driving?

    I will take this time to point out that my home state is the only one in America that plays HS ball in the summer, where it should be, and we will get a full 40-50 game schedule in this year with no more than a handful or rainouts for any school/umpire. /soapbox

    Clearly a blown call. Runner disengages from the bag as he slides through, while the fielder maintained the tag with his glove. I really HATE the umpire's positioning on this play.

    I understand that, as I know umpires that live all over the country and everywhere is a little different. I could not stand working anything less than DHs on a consistent basis, that's all that I'm saying.

    OP showed a lot of integrity on that call. That's one word for it. I can think of quite a few others that I will not share here.

    I can't get over these states that plan to have umpires show up only to work a single game. What a waste of time.

    This is not correct. I had dates scheduled and accepted on back-to-back nights for 2 different high school leagues. Game 1 was moved to the following night, in direct conflict with Game 2. We were assigned this game by the 2nd assigner. So we already had an accepted game as well as a pending game with the "Accept/Decline" option showing on the very same night. I attempted to Accept the pending game but the Arbiter system said that I could not until I was removed from the previous assignment. We were eventually removed by that assigner and then accepted the 2nd game.
