  1. Howdy, I'm Jackson, and I'm an umpire in the Atlanta Metro. I've been lurking here since May(ish) and plan to continue doing so while chiming in every once in a while.

  2. I used to really like my NB mid-cut plate shoes. But now I have completely changed my tune. I love my Mizunos--but particularly my Japanese model (bought off ebay for about the same price as the US version from retailers). The Japanese model has no white logo (it's stamped into the leather") and the toe box is wider.

  3. I loved the low cut New Balance plate shoes but hate the mid-cut. It seems like everything is mid-cut now, except the 3N2 which get poor reviews. Does anyone have any suggestions for low-cut plate shoes that I hopefully am missing?

  5. 3N2s are pretty good (although I wouldn't trust them for 16u+)

  6. Just for the ones tracking EBay prices on Mizunos from Japan, I just paid $155 for the shoes and $55 for shipping plus tax. Shipping seemed reasonable as I think that was in the ballpark for all of the entries on EBay. They should be here within 2 weeks so that I can wear them on Christmas Day.... probably shouldn't though as if SWMBO catches wind on this, there would have to be a reciprocation.....

  7. You'll have to refresh my memory on LL's rules (I know they are OBR-based, but I know they have variations). Given the great camera work (damn, that is good looking) . . . I'll actually say I have him good until the 17-second mark. He begins on the fair side and the runner is coming in from a very wide turn. He moves, but is still OK on that first adjustment because of that wide angle. At 17-seconds, however, he leans into the runner's path without the ball and the runner adjusts his path in response. Under NFHS, I have obstruction. Under OBR, we get into that great debate of when the "ball takes him there" and IF the ball took him there. To me, it looked like a premature move into the tag, not a reaction to an errant throw.
