Cleaning Shoes

Im sorry for another shoe cleaning thread but I have to ask. I had used the scrubbing bubbles technique on my plate and base shoes (reebok magistrates), and it has turned the bottoms of my shoes a bluish/white color! Not the under part, but the bottom part of the shoes, which is clearly visible and it looks horrible! Has anyone else encountered this?

not me. But I also dont let it dry on my shoes. I will spray it on and let it bubble and clear a bit. Then I will wash it off by spraying it with a water bottle and a towel. Havent noticed any issues on my 450s or my reebok base shoes.

I like the water bottle idea. Typically I just wipe with a wet rag, but I'll have to try spraying with the water bottle as well.

Think of it along the same lines of when you use the scrubbing bubbles to clean your bathroom. You dont wipe it down with a wet rag. You spray it with your shower head or dump water on it. Otherwise it leaves a film. So you use the scrubbing bubbles (like I said, large bottles for super cheap at Costco right now), then wash it off with water and wipe dry with a rag, then spray on non scented hair spray. Nice quality shine for cheap and easy. And when you are done with your game the scrubbing bubbles will take the hair spray off your shoes and you start all over again.

Never used scrubbing bubbles for my bathroom, so... At my house, scrubbing bubbles are exclusively used for shoes. Although I think my wife has stolen it to use in the house a few times...

Thanks for the info - the rag tends to move the mud around too much. If nothing else, it's a minor annoyance and I use too many rags to clean my shoes.

I find that happens too when I dont use the water bottle. Use the bubbles, then water, then the rag and it will work much better.

The Kaboom scrubbing bubbles spray works really good too. I use them on my Reebok base & plate shoes

Murphy's wood cleaner with water...works great with no worries about bleach, dis-coloring or any other unwanted side effects. Simple green works great as well...

i agree the murphy oil with water very good and cheap... u can buy a bottle of murphy s oil at the dollar store and will last u forever

I bought a gallon of Murphy's concentrate over three years ago, and there's still over three quarts left. It makes enough shoe cleaning solution to last about 10 years. So, it comes to about a dollar a year.

... Maybe less.
