Wed nght our HS conference, which is divided into north and south, had their championship game. I went to watch the crew and the scorekeeper from one the other teams comes up and tells the last game I called was a no hitter. It was a two/one game so I never thought about it but a batter walked in the third, he tried to pick him and threw it done the line. He scored on an over throw at third. After that they settled down and played well.

Shouldn't you get a "game ball" for that?question1.gif

Cool though that you didn't notice. I've been close a couple of times, and I was aware of it in one, but not the other. In the one I knew about, I actually started feeling a little nervous. I just thought, "Settle down, do your job, don't suck." If I'm ever in one again, I don't want to know.

I was BU in a possible one a couple years back, but didn't know until we left the park. A parent came up to me after the game and said, "Hey, Blue. On that play in the 5th inning, was it a hit or an error?" I remembered a close play at 1B that F3 dropped. I replied, "I'm not the scorekeeper, sir, so I couldn't tell you." He replies, "If it was an error, then our pitcher threw a no hitter."

It was the away team that would have gotten it, so I'll bet it went into the books as a hit. I never did check, though.

Thursday I had the 1st round of the NC AA State tourney. The home team had a no hitter going into the top of the 7th. It ended up being a 1-0 game with a combined 5 hits and a victory for the home team. It was a great game I was glad to be part of.
