Umpire Shirts (like I would ask about another kind)

I am a larger fellow (read fat B)) and I am looking to get some new shirts for this year. I tend to get very warm (more than most, wonder why that is ) and was wondering which shirts seem to be the most breathable?

I have some Honigs currently, but they seem to be a bit heavier and the "mesh" a bit smaller than some. I have been checking and I was thinking about the Dalco shirts from Ump-Attire. Any comments, concerns, hikus?

I have have received a new Ump-Attire Ultimate Umpire Shirt and just got it back from the seamstress. I plan on wearing it which ever day looks hotter this weekend and writing my review. Which will not be able to hold a candle to Midmoump's.

Also, remember your undershirt. Use a light weight moisture wicking undershirt too.

Exactly on the moisture wicking shirt.. You need a "second skin" type shirt, one that fits tight, in order to wick the moisture away from your voluptous body. I never thought wearing 2 shirts would be cooler than wearing one.. DO NOT wear a cotton undershirt. It may breathe but it doesn't wick and there's where you get your comfort. PLUS- the skin tight wicker gets the girls who might be spying on you changing in the parking lot.. Us voluptous guys need all the help we can get...

the ump-attire ones are very light.....and very comfortable in the heat of summer...some cons, a bit sheer...and run quite large.....

What I found in writing the article was that a moisture wicking undershirt and a highly breatheable umpire shirt is the best combination to wick moisture away from your body. An interesting side note is that many people contend that moisture wicking does not keep you cooler, only more comfortable. Also be advised that many types of moisture wicking undershirts tend to hold odor. I love my Heat Gear, but it does tend to smell.

The moisture wicking will only do its job if it can contact the moisture. So a moisture wicking outer shirt makes little sense to me. The t-shirt grabs the sweat and pulls it to the surface where a breatheable outer shirt causes an airflow to evaporate the sweat.

As for the best breatheable shirt? If keeping cool is your only criteria, I'd pair a moisture wicking undershirt with an open hole mesh shirt. Dalco makes an open hole weave shirt that will allow more airflow and speed the evaporation process. However, most of the better umpire shirts are closed hole mesh.

I agree. I wear a wicking undershirt, the local target has been selling them at a good price, though I might have to buy a couple of new ones. I've lost weight (thought I'm not fat, fat). But, they are becoming closer to fitting like a t-shirt now. Even though I have not come out of a game soaked in sweat.

I have a Dalco shirt. I don't like them. They look weird. The tail is too short and the sleeves are too narrow. But to each their own.
