Little Ott Posted May 15, 2025 Report Posted May 15, 2025 I need a citation. A pitcher goes to the rubber wearing this under his shirt: https://rooneybaseball.com/rooney-baseball-blog/the-kinetic-arm-a-game-changing-tool-for-pitcher-development-and-injury-prevention Can't imagine that is legal but for the life of me I can't find a citation in OBR or NFHS that says it isn't. Whatta' ya got? Thanks. Quote
0 Velho Posted May 15, 2025 Report Posted May 15, 2025 No cite but a player was allowed to wear one in LLWS 1-2 years ago. I'll be interested to see what people come up with. 2 Quote
0 The Man in Blue Posted May 15, 2025 Report Posted May 15, 2025 All I have is NFHS 1-5-10. Why do you feel it should be illegal? Quote
0 beerguy55 Posted May 15, 2025 Report Posted May 15, 2025 Don't see how it would be any different than a knee brace. Kinetic Arm Products – The Kinetic Arm I'd have to see some evidence that shows simply wearing this device adds 5 mph to your fastball to be concerned about it. There's a good chance that this is what Ohtani was wearing during the World Series. Quote
0 Little Ott Posted May 16, 2025 Author Report Posted May 16, 2025 A knee brace just stabilizes the joint. This thing adds both stability and power. Its been a long time since I took an engineering course but i think I could design a device strapped to a pitcher's torso with a lot of elasticity in it and it could accelerate a pitcher's arm much faster than the pitcher could without the boost. Suddenly many MPH are added to his fastball. Why would that be ok? I didn't know about the LL World Series. Going to have to do some digging. Thanks Quote
0 The Man in Blue Posted May 16, 2025 Report Posted May 16, 2025 After watching this video of variations of the product in action, I agree. Very dangerous. 1 Quote

As I stated previously - I would have to see evidence of this outcome when it comes to the Kinetic Arm - without said evidence, it's a stabilizer. Quote
0 rhanna Posted May 16, 2025 Report Posted May 16, 2025 I have some experience with this sleeve. It is definitely a stabilizer and does not add velocity. I have clocked it through many pitching sessions with and without. There is no discernible velocity difference. OP is right that you could likely design an elastic device that is loaded or stretched during the throwing motion to pull the arm forward with extra speed. The Kinetic arm doesn't do that. I could imagine that some pitchers may achieve higher velocities with it. Not because it adds power, but because it stabilizes the arm and may give a pitcher more confidence to throw harder. It is almost certainly what Ohtani was wearing based on chatter from their social media. 1 Quote

This is quickly adjustable and to prevent hyper extension. That said, Kinetic Arm publicizes their device as NPB legal https://thekineticarm.com/blogs/media-and-podcast-coverage/in-japan-baseball#:~:text=This recognition allows professional baseball players in,Classic (WBC)%2C have embraced the Kinetic Arm Quote
