a) Based on past occurrences in MLB I would say no call if F1 pulls up. My takeaway from other instances in MLB is F1 has to put himself in the path of getting trucked.

b) I think F1 would have reestablished protection and contact would be INT.

Having a similar conversation on a softball site following an obstruction call in an NCAA game.

The fundamental question is how far does the fielder have to go to get the interference call?   We tend to be very comfortable with giving leeway to a runner for an obstruction call because we don't want to encourage contact that can cause an injury.  However, it seems many umpires do not want to give that same courtesy to a fielder who checks up even though they, by definition, have the protection and the right of way. 

In the MLB play above, I have interference.  In a collision, I have interference.  If F1 checked up . . . that is the question above.  I don't have a good answer beyond HTBT.
