Just spotted this on the Evoshield store. Was debating ordering one but that price tag is quite large, almost $300!?!? Tough pill to swallow there, but for a titanium frame with the best pads on the market might be worth it.

Talk me into (or out of) it.

When you consider that the Evoshield is just a bit more than the AS Magnesium ($30 or so), it's an easier pill to swallow.

That's a lot for a mask...but I'm seriously tempted.

Please keep in mind that the evoshield mask is shorter at the top, so you will require a skullcap as the top of you dome will remain open to hits, just saw a kid with one and the top of this skullcap was wide open to hits

To @Ump242’s point, the EvoShield Pro-SRZ is not an umpire’s mask. Its entire layout is optimized for catchers. We’ll never see it aluminum, and I’m fairly certain that had EvoShield produced it in hollow steel, they’d had have a customer service apocalypse in their hands… it’d be getting returned for bending from the repeated punishment catchers’ masks take (being routinely tossed onto the ground, etc.).

By making it in titanium, EvoShield is addressing two issues: 1) they’re keeping the bars thin, while reducing the frequency of bent bars, and 2) they’re justifying the premium price tag.

Those WindPact pads are the best on the market, hands-down, but they are costly. In order to secure exclusive supply (alongside UnderArmour), Wilson-EvoShield likely laid out some tremendous capital.

I’m of the opinion that aside from the mechanical solution of the Force3 Defender, the WindPact pads attached to a magnesium frame (FM5K or Rampage) is the best solution on the market.

… it’s a shame that Wilson is/was once again so committed to maintaining their Exclusive Supplier status and international corporate profit margins, that they still haven’t dived into cast-magnesium frames.

Precisely the feedback I was hoping to get.

@834k3r of course, mine was observation,  his was a detailed analysis with added information that made everyone here smarter,  and sexy. (Replying to the memes)

I know it's very hard to judge two separate individual shots to the mask, especially since they usually take place on different days, at different speeds etc., but can someone describe how the Windpact compare to the All-Star mag pads? Thanks!

I'd like to know too, but I don't see the evo pads fitting every mask properly
